Ever wonder why dogs
Lie down with their
Face away from you
Not because they're unhappy
Or uncomfortable
But because they're
Protecting themselves
That's their way of
Saying that you need
To guard them
Their backside is vulnerable
So they make sure it's covered
So when your dog lays that way
He wants to know that you
Got his back
They face outward because
They know anything
Unjust
Bad
Scary
Will come from out there
Not behind them
Where you are
It's their safety net
Mickey, after licking

Will turn with his back
Towards whomever he's lying with
Face toward the opening
The door
The space
Watchful
Even when asleep
Because he knows
That no matter what
We got his back
