Two for the Price of One

Today is a grand day

1.5 years since day 0

And at the same time

I just started my PhD

Two for the price of one

The day started off

Not so well

First a bout of depression and a headache

And then a vicious verbal attack

By closed-minded individual

I refuse to lower myself to her level

And call her names

But then thanks to friends

Of all calibers

Both my side of things

And the opposite

Who care and are actually intelligent

Came to my aid

And soothed me

I was able to truly

Enjoy what today is

Drank champagne

With my mom

And listened to some

Beautiful Israeli music

On tv

I was brought the peace

I deserved

It reminded me as it often does

Just how blessed I am

G-d saved me

1.5 years ago today

From being bedridden

Or dead

It wasn't my time

I have a purpose here

Many of them

I started one of them

Yesterday

The rocket has blasted off

Into space towards the moon

My last educational peak

I'm strapped in for the ride

Everything happens for a reason

I was supposed to start my doctorate

The day before this massive anniversary

It means so much

I will succeed because

Victory and iron will runs through my veins

Because G-d saved me

Because I believe in myself

Because I deserve this

Because I want this so damned much

I have stepped through the door

Of the next chapter in my life

And I'm walking with my head held high

The last chapter is closing as I continue

Walking forward

I've been through so much

My recovery isn't over

But it is stronger each day

I will fight until

As I've said before

If I'm the only one on planet earth

That is at least 95% recovered

Without any flares

Or massive setbacks

So be it

I want to be that beacon of hope

For all spoonies

It can and will happen to you

Just never ever give up
