It is said somewhere
That people who use a highway
Freeway
Or parkway
Have a favorite laneSome stay in the right
To be slow and careful
Go below the speed limit
Even crawl sometimesThen there are the middle lane folks
The in between-ers
Not too fast
Not too slowLike the little bear with porridge
Not too hot
Not too cold
Those are mostly occupied by families
Mom's on phonesThen you have
Those like me
I'm a left lane driver
I'm not a speed demonBut the other two lanes
I feel uncomfortable in
The right lane only good
For entering or exitingThe middle lane
Too dangerous as
One wrong swerve
From either side
Would create a scary chain reactionNo, I'll stay in the left lane
A little faster but I have
Something most don't think about
It has guardrails, sometimes grassHalf a foot or more of space
For split second decisions
When a middle laner
Decides to invade your space
Without a signal or lookI've had to use that little bit
Before while generously applying
The horn to avoid a problem
Between two SUV'sIt is a safety net
A faster lane
Though for those whom want to go
Over 70, are allowed to passI'm a left lane driver
And it makes me a safer and better
One for it
