Retrograde

***Dedicated to Laurel Herman, who always explains this stuff to me so I know I'm not losing my mind. Thank you.***

For a long time I
Had very little idea
About my body's connection
To outer space

How can something
Billions of miles away
Affect me here on earth
And a planet to boot

Yet there it is
Every time one of these
Giants in our universe
Hiccups

I feel it
Many people feel it
Differently
For me it's depression mostly
Or loss of equilibrium

Right now it's mercury
Going through a
Retrograde
That is the word for the hiccup
That's official

Planets move
It's part of the way the galaxy works
It would have been better
If it wasn't that effective

But all empaths
Or people who are aware
Of their bodies
Are feeling this
And not in a good way

Energy moves
Invisible to the eyes
But not the emotions
The fabric of the soul

I never know when a planet decides
To visit its neighbor
But if after a few days
Something feels funky
I ask friends in the know

Just gives one an idea
Of just how small
Humanity really is
Let's hope that we don't have another
Retrograde
For a while

Like until 2018
At least
