An Evening of Peace

Came to Ridgefield yesterday
That's a town the size of a marble
Half an hour from me

He comes once a year
Always to a packed theater
His humor relaxes everyone
He has us meditate before he begins

JVP is a psychic medium
Laymen's terms?
He speaks to the dead
But unlike everyone else in that auditorium

I didn't go to see if my transitioned
Loved ones would appear
No
Because with my gifts
I can see and speak to them
All by myself

I went there
For merely one thing
An evening of peace
Surrounded by likeminded individuals
Perhaps even some skeptics

But with each message delivered
I sensed a shift in the crowd
More intent listening
A message for one
Meant a message for all

I only wanted one thing
Not a book or an autograph
I wanted a picture with him
I got one last year

I don't chase after actors
Or go to concerts much
I'm not a screaming fangirl
I don't do sardine crowds
Clamoring for a touch, a wink, a blink

But people like JVP
Chip Coffey
And so forth
That's a deeper connection
Because they bring peace

So getting not one picture
But four
Was marvelous
And will be forever treasured
