One of Many

I was an outcast
My whole young life
Bullied, misunderstood
Different
Always alone
In a time when unique equaled bad

I was without a group
Unpopular
One of many
At the time when in grade school
Popularity was so supposedly important

I couldn't tick that off
And it ended up not mattering
For as I grew
I realized
It's about quality not quantity

It's about a good heart
Not good looks
It's about a small tribe
Not a million random people called
Fake friends

It's about finding out and speaking
The truth
Not playing both sides of the fence
While grinning like a fool on Oprah

Today
Right now
I'm fighting a new battle
I'm a part of and created a new
Resistance

Just like in WWII
There were traitors everywhere
Those who sought to fight
The Nazis went underground
Created a group
One of many
Against many

When David stands against Goliath
Who has shown all of his cards
The smaller uses brains and proof
Over brawn and popularity
Just like in grade school

Because in order to change the world
Through truth and faith
Goliath can win a battle but the war
Isn't his, hers, theirs
It's ours, mine

The ball of snow has reached
The top of the hill
It's in our court
We shall not show our hand
Quiet as mice

But the thunderstorm unleashed
Shall not be a silent one
HOORAH!!!!
We are, I am ready for war
Are you?
