Fondly

I think of you fondly often
Seeing you this past Sunday
Was special
For us both

I was glad you were able
To see the change
The miracle
I'm doing well
Better

Last time you saw me
All wasn't well
In fact, nothing was certain
Including my own life

We spoke of the past
One I remember
Quite fondly
And with a bit of humor

My Bat Mitzvah
January 17th, 1998
Amongst 6 girls
There I stood
Reading from the Torah
In Hebrew

I sang the songs
Carried it up and down aisles
Praying that I wouldn't drop it
As family and friends watched

What a glorious day
And you were our teacher
For 2 years we prepared
Driving you a little nuts sometimes

But in the end
It was worth it
Understanding just a bit more
About my heritage
Being a part of that magical day

All these years later
Having both gone through so much
To be able to live life and fully
Being blessed for everyday
Never taking anything for granted

Someday soon I truly hope
To stand before you again
With my future husband
As you officiate my wedding

I hold your friendship
Very closely to my heart
And you along with it
Fondly
