Aliona's P.O.V

A few days went by since Vicki's death, Stefan and Elena covered it by telling everyone that she'd left town. Even when we had to give statements to Sheriff Forbes, we all said that she'd gone.

Today was a day that I hadn't celebrated properly since 1864, Stefan's birthday. He probably didn't celebrate it anymore but that wasn't going to stop me.

I drove over to the boarding house and knocked on the door, Stefan answered and smiled when he saw me.

"Happy birthday." I smiled at him as he rolled his eyes.

"Yeah yeah, come in." He laughed as I playfully hit his arm.

"Come on bro, why not celebrate? It's - Lexi?" My eyes widened when I saw her on the couch drinking from a blood bag.

"Aliona? Oh my god!" She smiled and rushed up to give me a hug. I'd met Lexi about 40 years ago, she'd told me about some vampire that she'd helped. She'd explained how he had a serious ripper problem and now I realise. It was Stefan.

"Wait you guys know each other?" Stefan looked confused as he joined us in the lounge.

"Yeah back in the day." I laughed, sounding like an old person.

"You want one?" Lexi offered as she saw me looking at the blood bag.

"Sure." I smiled as Stefan looked slightly pained, it must be hard when all you feed on is animals. I definitely couldn't do it.

"What about you Stefan?" Lexi asked as he shook his head.

"No it's okay, thank you." He replied as I sighed. "I don't think I could stop if I did." He admitted as Lexi shook her head.

"You could, you know it." She encouraged, she had helped him once before. "I'm just jealous of your restraint." She laughed as I nodded.

"Me too." I spoke as she frowned and looked at me.

"Damon got to her and she went on a bit of a killing spree." Stefan explained as I scowled at him.

"I haven't drank from a person in weeks, be proud." I spoke as they both laughed and nodded.

"So for tonight Stefan, what are we doing?" Lexi questioned, I smiled because she would want to go out.

"Funny you should ask." The annoying voice of Damon cut through the air as I groaned.

"Yeah well I wasn't asking you." Lexi snapped as I smirked.

"There's a party at the grill, all of Stefan's friends are going." Damon spoke as he walked towards us all.

"Yeah I don't want a birthday party." Stefan shrugged.

"Well it's just a party, nobody has to know that it's your birthday." Damon reasoned. "Caroline's throwing it." He added as my eyes widened.

"Damon stay away from Caroline." I snapped as he put his hands up.

"We're friends, it's cool." Damon looked at me as I rolled my eyes. "It's important for people to see us out and about like regular folk, we need to blend." He said as I narrowed my eyes at him, what was he up to?

"Let's go!" Lexi spoke once Damon had left the room, I glanced at Stefan who shook his head. "Please?" She questioned as he sighed and looked at her before nodding and groaning.

A couple of hours later, the three of us were getting ready. I'd gone back to Matt's and retrieved a skirt, top and some heeled boots before going back to Stefan's. Lexi and I always used to get ready together before going out, it was something that we hadn't done in a long time and I missed it.

"I'm almost ready." Lexi smiled as she walked out of the bathroom in just a towel.

"It doesn't look like it." I laughed as I sat straightening my hair.

"I still don't get why you guys would want to go." Stefan sighed as Lexi raised an eyebrow.

"It's not like we're asking you to walk outside in the middle of the day without your daylight ring on, it's a party Stefan." Lexi spoke as I laughed and nodded, she was right.

"Yeah but it's a party that Damon wants us to go to, makes me think he's up to something." Stefan shrugged as I scowled at him.

"Can't you take the night off from being the miserable untrusting brother and just have some fun?" I questioned as he laughed.

"Who cares about Damon!" Lexi backed me up. "Where's the guy that jumped naked in the Trevi Fountain or got extremely drunk on the Statue of Liberty?" She asked as I started laughing. "So quit your whining and go get ready." She ordered as he sighed.

"Fine." He said eventually as we both cheered.

After we heard the shower turn on, there was a knock at the door. Before I could stop her, Lexi shouted out that it was open. We both walked around to the front room to see Elena, I smiled at her as Lexi stopped dead in her tracks.

"Oh my god." Her eyes went wide. "How...who?"

"I'm Elena." She said confused when she looked at what Lexi was wearing. "Who are you?"

"Lexi, a friend of Stefan's." Lexi replied as Elena glanced at me for a second and I shrugged.

"Where is Stefan?" She questioned as I pointed down the hall.

"He's in the shower." Lexi explained as Elena looked even more confused, probably because she was just in the shower before Stefan. I'll admit that it did look a bit suspicious, but it was also very amusing to watch. "Do you wanna wait?"

"N-no it's fine." Elena shook her head.

"Okay well I'll tell him you stopped by." Lexi smiled as Elena shook her head again before turning and leaving the house. "So that's why he's here." Lexi sighed as I nodded.

"Yep." I spoke, popping the p.

"Are you out of your freaking mind?" Lexi shouted as she walked into Stefan's room, I followed after her as she grabbed the picture of Katherine that Stefan kept in his room.

"What are you talking about?" Stefan asked looking confused.

"I just met Elena." She snapped bluntly as Stefan's mouth made an 'O' shape. "You have some serious explaining to do."

After about half an hour, Stefan was still telling Lexi about how he met Elena and was just as shocked as she was when he saw her. We'd both gotten ready in the time that it took him to explain and Lexi was just putting the finishing touches to her makeup.

"You have some serious emotional damage." Lexi spoke whilst judging him.

"No she's not like Katherine." Stefan reassured her.

"Well she may not be like her, but she must be related. She could be her twin." Lexi sighed as I nodded in agreement.

"Maybe I don't wanna know. I have no desire to tie Elena to Katherine." Stefan spoke as we both raised our eyebrows at him. "Okay so the resemblance is there and that's what drew me in but that's it, Katherine and Elena are completely different on the inside." Stefan tried but Lexi still shook her head, she'd always been stubborn.

"Oh so Elena's not a raging bitch then huh?" I laughed at Lexi's comment, thinking how true it was about Katherine.

"No, Elena's -s-she's warm and she'd kind and she's caring and selfless...and it's real. Honestly when I'm around her I-I completely forget what I am." Stefan spoke truly making my eyes widen. I knew he liked her, but not this much.

"Oh my god." Lexi smiled at him. "You're in love with her."

"Yeah, yeah I am." He spoke and smiled after a pause.
