Aliona's P.O.V

I woke up the next morning to a quiet house, after getting ready for the day I walked downstairs. Matt sat with dark circles under his eyes and his hair looked a mess.

"Matt? Did you get any sleep?" I asked whilst approaching him, he was slumped in a chair and staring at the wall blankly.

"I couldn't whilst knowing that Vick wasn't here." He replied, his voice sounded croaky. I hadn't completely forgotten about Vicki, I'd just pushed it to the side whilst trying to deal with my brothers. "Where did you go last night?"

I completely ignored the question and went to pour myself a cup of coffee, he turned towards me, still waiting for a reply.

"I uh - it all just got too much you know? All those people crowding around and the blood was everywhere." I lied again, it was becoming a bad habit.

"I really needed you last night, I came back here and you weren't anywhere to be found." He sounded confused as I rolled my eyes, would he just let it go?

"I - I was just driving around the town for a bit, that's all," I mumbled and exited the room wanting to hear no more about it. "Elena texted me to say that Jeremy's gone off somewhere, so I'm going to help her look," I shouted to Matt from the hallway whilst looking at my phone.

"Okay just be safe, whatever got Vicki is still out there," Matt spoke and walked over to give me a strong hug, his protectiveness was really cute. I couldn't help but feel the heavyweight of the guilt at knowing exactly who had hurt Vicki.

"I will, I'll be fine." I smiled before turning on my heals to grab my bag and head out of the door.

Once I'd got into my car, I immediately knew where Jeremy would have gone. The hospital. Of course, he would check on Vicki, so that's where I headed. Maybe at the same time, I could pick up some more blood bags as my stash was running slightly low.

It made me think of Damon's words, human blood does taste better fresh from the vein. I just didn't want to kill anybody, I haven't in years.

I pulled up to the hospital and walked straight to the ward that Vicki was staying on, I'd looked at some of the hospital papers Matt had brought home and they'd said which room.

When I arrived at the door, Jeremy was talking to a nurse who was trying to push him out of the room.

"Jer?" I called causing him to turn around and roll his eyes when he saw me.

"Ali, I don't need a baby sitter." He began to walk past me and towards the exit, I guess the blood bags will have to wait.

"I know but Elena sent me to see where you'd be." I shrugged whilst catching up with him.

"How did you know I'd be here?" He asked whilst looking at me, I just shrugged again.

"Just a guess, you're a predictable stoner." I laughed and so did he.

"Hey! There was a time that you used to get high with me, remember?" He lowered his voice slightly when we walked past a group of people before proceeding out of the main doors.

"Yes, I remember.. Some of it." It's true I did use to take the drugs with Jeremy, they didn't really affect me that much, because I'm already dead. It seemed like a good way, if I took them with him then it would half his stash. That meant he wouldn't be nearly taking as many, which is better than letting him take as many as he wanted. A flawed logic, I'll admit, but it was the best that I could do for him.

"Do you want a lift to school?" I asked him as we walked out into the parking lot.

"Sure." He spoke as we stopped at my car.

By the time we reached school, the bell had already rung. I bolted to history but Jeremy held back, in no rush to get to his lessons.

I burst into the classroom causing everyone to stare at me.

"S-sorry I'm late." I murmured before heading to my seat.

"That's okay Ms. Forster, you can make it up in detention." I groaned whilst a few people around me snickered.

If that wasn't bad enough, I had to sit and watch Elena and Stefan staring at each other for the entire lesson. It was like watching my brother fall in love with Katherine all over again, hopefully, it wouldn't end in Elena burning in a church.

When Tanner stopped talking about the comet and picked up on the fact that they were staring at each other for the whole lesson, he called them out in front of the whole class. However before he could say anything else, they were saved by the bell.

I walked out of the classroom and met up with Caroline and Bonnie, Elena had walked off with Stefan.

"I'm confused are you psychic or clairvoyant?" Caroline asked Bonnie making me laugh that they were still going on about it.

"Technically, Grams says I'm a witch." This made me widen my eyes, how was Bonnie a witch. "My ancestors were these really cool Salem witch chicks or something?" She spoke so casually about it and that's when I remembered the witch that I had known. Emily Bennett.

Wait.

"Grams tried to explain it all, but she was looped on the liquor so I kind of tuned out," Bonnie spoke, how could I not have remembered Emily Bennett? "Crazy family yes, witches I don't think so."

So she didn't believe it yet, she better because crazy and unexplained things will start happening. If she doesn't learn how to control her power she'll be extremely dangerous. Let's just hope that she was right and her Gram had just had too much liquor.

"Yeah well feel free to conjure up the name and number of that guy from last night." Caroline smiled at the memory.

"Who was he?" I asked confused.

"Yeah we didn't see him, you did." Bonnie and I chuckled.

"Why didn't you just talk to him then?" I asked whilst thinking about who it could have been.

"I dunno, I was drunk," Caroline replied making us laugh as we walked off. We emerged into the warm fresh air where I saw Matt and Elena talking, I tuned out of whatever gossip Caroline and Bonnie were talking about and used my heightened hearing to listen to Matt.

"She kept saying it was a vampire," I stiffened and gasped slightly. "I'm going to head over to the hospital now and try to hear the real story." I walked away from Bonnie and Caroline without another word and headed over to Matt.

"Hey I was going to go to the hospital and see how Vick's doing, do you want to come?" I offered and Matt nodded.

"Thanks for getting Jeremy this morning Ali, it really means a lot," Elena spoke as I smiled at her.

"Hey it's okay, he wasn't too much trouble." I laughed lightly and followed Matt over to his truck. The car journey was awkwardly quiet at first until I decided to speak up.

"So do they know what attacked Vicki?" I asked trying to fill the silence.

"Well they say it was some larger animal, but she said it was a vampire." He stated whilst staring at the road blankly. I tried to laugh a little and pretend that it was a silly idea.

"Maybe she was just hallucinating, she did lose a lot of blood." I offered as we pulled up into a parking space at the hospital. I got out of the truck and looked over at the entrance to see Stefan walking inside, I told Matt to hurry up and walked as fast as I could towards the door.
