Aliona's P.O.V

I ran up the steps of the old boarding house, taking them two at a time as I heard the banging and crashing from inside. I knew Stefan was already here.

"Stop it!" I shouted and ran into the study, seeing Stefan pinning Damon against the wall and ignoring the carnage that had happened in the destroyed room.

"Oh come on I did this for the both of you, so they'd be off our trail." Damon smirked at Stefan, who's eyes were blazing with anger.

"You never do anything for anyone apart from yourself." He snapped before driving a wooden stake into Damon. I gasped in surprise, feeling a pang of sadness and regret. It made me question, did I really want Damon to die?

"You missed." Damon grunted out as I sighed out in slight relief.

"No you saved my life, so I'm sparing yours." Stefan spat at him bitterly and moved the stake, causing Damon to groan in pain.

Slowly Stefan moved away from Damon, who collapsed to the floor whilst trying to pull the wood out of his gut. Stefan didn't say another word as he walked out of the room and brushed past me, seeming too angry to acknowledge my presence.

The next day of school came sooner than I wanted, at the moment all I wanted to do was sit at home and mourn...and eat ice-cream.

"So have you spoken to Bonnie recently?" I asked, not really caring but trying to get Caroline to talk about herself so that I wouldn't have to say anything.

"No, I'm mad at her. Remember?" She rolled her eyes but I was way too tired to care.

"Why are you so pissed at her again?" Elena asked as Caroline shook her head, we were walking into the school and I hadn't seen Bonnie all morning.

"Because she's a thief. I gave her my necklace and she refuses to give it back." Caroline stated, trying to act innocent. "It's a matter of principal."

"Alright well I tried, and I'm officially out of it." Elena spoke as I nodded.

"Me too." I added as Elena gave me a sympathetic smile, it was hard when she was the only one who knew about what had really happened last night. The bell went as I groaned and looked at Elena. History. Great. "Well we better get going to class, I'll see you later Care." I smiled and walked with Elena to our first period.

"How are you doing?" She asked as I shook my head.

"I don't wanna talk about it." I mumbled and walked into history without saying another word to her, taking my seat near the back and watching as the class filled up. Bonnie raced in suddenly before the new teacher did, my eyes widened at the sight of him. I could already tell that he was a step up from Tanner.

"Okay so I'm Alaric Saltzman, and I know it's quite a mouthful." He smiled at the class before going off on a tangent about where his name originates from and where he was born. "But please you can all call me Ric. I'm your new history teacher." Great. Just great.

After the last bell rung out to signal that it was the end of the day, I hurriedly walked out of the damned building and over to the carpark. Stefan sat on a bench, no doubt waiting for Elena, so I ignored him and carried on walking towards my car.

After a few minutes of driving, I reached the place that I wanted to be. The cemetery.

Sure to most people it was a dark melancholy place for the dead and a physical reminder for the living. But for me it was much more.
