Aliona's P.O.V

"Where's Rebekah?" Gloria asked as I walked into the now busy bar, still running and still bustling with people. I sat down on Klaus' right, Stefan on his other side.

"She'll be here, I can't just conjure her on demand." Klaus shrugged, Gloria nodded before walking over to another customer.

"What's with you?" Klaus asked Stefan who was brooding as usual. "I thought Chicago was your playground."

"So this is why you wanted me to be your wingman? Because you liked the way I tortured innocent people?" Stefan questioned, I looked between the pair as Klaus smirked.

"Well that's certainly half of it." Klaus muttered whilst pouring me a shot. "The other half is that you used to want to be my wingman." He smiled, as if reminiscing. He finished pouring a shot for Stefan and one for himself, raising his up. "To friendship." He spoke to Stefan who hesitantly nodded, he then turned to me with a devilish smirk. "And to whatever we were...are."

"Yeah." I scoffed sarcastically, downing the shot before reaching for the bottle to pour another.

"I'm still confused." Stefan frowned. "If we were 'such good friends,' then why can I only remember you as the hybrid dick who sacrificed my girlfriend on an alter of fire." Stefan's words made me nearly choke on my drink as I looked up at Klaus whose smirk never faltered.

"Well you see, all good things must come to an end unfortunately." Klaus shrugged as Stefan began to realise the truth.

"You compelled me to forget." He spoke as Klaus nodded.

"It was time for Rebekah and I to move on." Klaus' words made me frown.

"Only for you to return with Elijah not even ten years later." I spoke with furrowed brows, Klaus turned to me and nodded.

"I'd heard of another Salvatore in town, I wanted to see if she could live up to the level of her ripper brother." Klaus smiled as my face dropped. "And she certainly did."

"You looked so surprised when I told you my name though." I continued, confusion still washing over me.

"I have people everywhere Aliona, did you really think I wouldn't have had them out listening for the name Salvatore?" He questioned rhetorically as I sipped at another drink.

"You shouldn't have to cover your tracks, unless you were running from someone." Stefan concluded as Klaus' face fell now.

"Story time's over I'm afraid." Klaus' expression had hardened and indicated that no more questions should be asked.

"I need another drink." Stefan sighed. "A real one." He added before getting up and walking towards the back of the bar.

"I wasn't lying you know." Klaus spoke up as I turned to him with a frown.

"About what?" I questioned in confusion.

"About you living up to expectations, we did have some fun times." Klaus admitted as I stared at him even more sceptically.

"Did we? Shame, I seem to recall not being able to emote." I spoke sarcastically, Klaus chuckled.

"We did, believe me." He sighed.

"Then why didn't you compel me after, like Stefan?" I asked, Klaus turned to face me, dangerously close.

"Because there are some moments that I hoped you'd never forget." He spoke sincerely, he placed his hand over my own as he closed his eyes, it was worrying how easy it was for him to get into my head.
