Aliona's P.O.V

We ran towards the ruins of the old church, a shiver running down my spine as I remembered the recent events that occurred here.

"Stefan I'm not sure that she's here." I mumbled as we neared the church with no sign of Bonnie.

"Wait a sec." He put an arm out and told me to stay put as I huffed in annoyance, he was sometimes way too overprotective. "There's a hole down there, maybe Bonnie fell." Stefan explained and slowly climbed down from the ruins, making me watch despite the fact that I wanted to help in the rescue of my friend.

"Stefan." I called out as he disappeared from view. "Stefan? Everything okay?" I asked after hearing no sound.

Suddenly Stefan swiftly reappeared, holding a terrorised Bonnie who had her eyes shut.

"You can open your eyes now." Stefan spoke reassuringly as she saw me, her eyes widened and she ran over to hug me. I smiled as she did so but soon my face fell. Blood.

"How did you guys know where I was?" Bonnie asked and thankfully pulled away, that's when I noticed the cut on her head and grimaced.

"Well your grandmother told us what you were doing and we guessed the where." Stefan answered for us both.

"I could hear them down there, behind the door." Bonnie spoke as my eyes widened. "Are they in pain?"

"In the beginning yes, but they've starved to the point of desiccation." Stefan explained as I slowly moved back a bit, praying that the veins would remain hidden under my eyes.

"But...if they had blood then-"

"It's not gunna happen Bonnie, Emily saw to that when she had you destroy the crystal." Stefan spoke as she nodded in defeat.

"You're safe now." I spoke as Bonnie nodded and smiled lightly at me.

--

"Well look who's returned from battle." Bonnie's grams spoke when she opened the door, Bonnie laughed lightly before embracing her in a hug. "Can I talk to your friends for a minute?" She asked as Bonnie nodded and turned towards us.

"Thank you." She smiled before walking into her house and out of sight.

"I appreciate your help Stefan." She smiled as I frowned.

"You're welcome, Sheila." Stefan smiled back as my mouth opened in shock.

"Wait you two know each other?" I asked in amazement.

"I wasn't sure he remembered." Sheila spoke with a pleasant smile on her lips.

"October 1969." Stefan recalled as I looked at her and she nodded, remembering that date.

"I was a teenager." Sheila shrugged. "You took a big risk coming here earlier, letting her dad realise who you were. It could have gone in a completely different way." She added as Stefan knowingly nodded.

"Well your family has a very long history of keeping my secret, I knew that I could trust you if you believed that I was worthy of your trust.

"Bonnie knows, doesn't she." Sheila stated as you and Stefan both nodded. "But you must understand that our loyalty only lies so far."

"I know." Stefan nodded as she sighed.

"Alright then, goodnight." She nodded to us both.

"Goodnight." I spoke politely and turned to Stefan.

"Goodnight Sheila." Stefan spoke with a smile before turning, the sound of the door closing behind us as we left.

"Well that was a success." I laughed as Stefan nodded, together we walked down the dark road home. "You never told me that you knew Bonnie's grams."

"I know, there's a lot of things I haven't told you." Stefan sighed as I nodded.

"Likewise, brother." I muttered, thinking of him

Wherever he was.

The next morning I heard a knock at the door, groaning as I rolled over in bed and listened to see if I could hear Matt's footsteps.

"Matt!" I yelled and didn't get a response, instead the doorbell rang again and I sighed before getting out of bed and walking downstairs. It was barely light outside as the sun cast long shadows on the ground, the night slowly fading from the sky.

"Ali." The guy smiled as I frowned, staring at him as he stood on the porch. "Oh come on I didn't graduate that long ago." He laughed, I could remember him from high school vividly.

"Ben McKittrick?" I questioned as he nodded.

"In the flesh." He laughed with a smirk and I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Um Matt's not in at the moment." I explained but he shook his head.

"I'm not here to see Matt, I'm here to see you." He spoke as I nodded in confusion.

"Oh well in that case come in then." I smiled at him and turned around to lead Ben into the kitchen, however I didn't hear his footsteps following.

"No it's I'm on a tight schedule, I have to get to work." He explained but I wasn't buying it. "I just wanted to drop by and say hey, it's been a while since we've spoke and I liked when we used to talk." He smiled as I returned it, however it was false. Ben seemed too suspicious.

"Yeah...uh it was nice." I nodded and walked towards him. "Why are you here so early?" I asked him as he shrugged.

"I've got the morning shift at the grill, and speaking of that I've gotta go." He smiled apologetically and I began to wonder how one guy could be so smiley. "Could I get your number quick?" He questioned with a smirk and I reluctantly nodded, not wanting him to have suspicions of me.

After I'd given him my number, he said a very quick goodbye before stalking off down the path. I narrowed my eyes as I watched him go, walking in the opposite direction to the grill.

I shook my head and decided to go to the cemetery, needing to clear my head of everything and just...see mom.

Finally I reached the edge of the old graveyard and stepped inside the family tomb, feeling the air go cold as I entered. Sitting on the even colder stone floor and ripping open a blood bag, I hated to give into the cravings so early in the day but I also didn't want to see what would happen if I left it.

"Mom things aren't going so well, more and more people are learning my secret and that means I'll have to move soon. I won't be able to come visit anytime soon if that happens." I sighed as I felt tears brim, over all those decades I'd never realised how much I missed my mom until I'd come home.

My phone suddenly started ringing and startled me as I discarded the blood bag swiftly, as if the caller would see it, and picked up the phone.

"Hey Stefan." I spoke after seeing the caller.

"Hey Ali where are you?" He questioned as I stepped out of the tomb and began to make my way through the forest back towards the road.

"Oh just out in town." I lied and began to walk quicker.

"No you're not, Damon said I'd find you out here." Stefan's voice came from behind me as I sighed and stopped walking. "You've been to the cemetery?" He asked and I nodded, turning around to see him.

"Yeah I come here a lot." I shrugged, as Stefan nodded, not wanting to tell him that I come to see mom.

"Look I need you to be on high alert, there's a new vampire in town and we don't know who it is." Stefan explained as my eyes widened. "What?"

"I think I know who." I spoke whilst recalling my encounter with Ben this morning.
