Chapter 13 Lies and Allies

Her POV

As I watch the man in plain white polo tucked in his black pants make his way at our table, I can't help but be amazed about the interior of the restaurant. It looks classy but with a hint of modern touch. The motif of the room was black and gold which made me admire it even more.

"Here are your orders, madame" he said, smiling, as he lays down our food. The woman in front of me nodded and gave him a warm smile. After doing his part, the waiter left and went back to his post.

"Shall we?" she asked

Nagsimula na akong kumain dahil kanina ko pa nararamdaman ang nagrereklamo kong sikmura. Tahimik at eleganteng nginunguya ng ginang ang kanyang pagkain habang may ngiti sa mga labi.

"Gusto mo bang makarinig ng isang kwento, binibini?" tanong niya habang nakatitig sa akin. Tumango ako sa kanya bilang pagpapahintulot. She was a woman of tales and stories. Everytime we meet, she always have stories to tell which make me curious.

"There was once a king who had a daughter whom he loved so much and made his princess. This princess grew into the lady that the King adored and wished for her to be married. The princess then told the king who she wanted to be with."  I can't help but notice the genuine happiness in her face. It was like she was telling her own story and that she was the princess. Inayos ko ang aking upo at ibinaling ang buong atensyon sa kanya.

"In the king's palace, there were two men who are fighting for a spot as his right hand man. But those men were the best of allies and comrades. They treat each other like real brothers. The first one was a great fighter and an intelligent tactician. But his heart was full of ambition. On the other hand, the other man was the best of all knights. He was the epitome of perfection for being gifted and at the same time, he is handsome. This man was the person whom the princess wants to be with. " pagpapatuloy niya. 

As i listen to her, i can picture those men in my mind and who they would look like in real life. I can also feel the resemblance of the man whom the princess is betrothed to. He is someone I know.

"And so, the princess married the best knight and lived with him. They created their own kingdom and the knight became a king, the princess became the queen. They were blessed with two daughters, the elder was two years older than the youngest. However, just one month after the birth of the youngest princess, their kingdom was attacked. At that time, the king and the eldest princess were out for a hunt. It was only the queen and the youngest" as she said those words, i saw her emotions shift into horror.

"The queen was taken by the men while her youngest was given to someone else. She was brought into the enemy's den. She was locked up in a cell and everyday, she was obliged to take in a concoction that was made to forget. It was because of the pain that she was feeling. She suffered so much and wished to erase her memories. And so she did. On the other hand, the king was devastated and deeply hurt. He blamed himself for what happened and spent his years looking for his queen and daughter and for the enemy." 

I saw teardrops in her eyes. She's crying. I gave her a comforting look which I hope helped her calm down. This has been the first time that I saw her pour so much emotions for a story. And i can see why it affects her so much. Pinakiramdaman ko ang malamig na bagay na nakapulupot sa aking leeg bago nagsimulang magsalita.

"And the day came when the king was able to find his daughter. Although the King wanted to be with his daughter, he cannot claim her just yet. He needs his queen. And so, the king watched over her and protected her without the lady's knowledge. One day, the king met those who attacked his kingdom. He was ecstatic to see his queen but was hurt to know that he was no longer remembered and that she was married to someone else. However, the heart does not forget its one true love." dugtong ko sa kwento niya.
