Five, four, three, two, one.

Napatayo ako bigla ng eksaktong tumuntong ng alas dose ng tanghali sa orasan. Kanina ko pa talaga tinititigan ang wall clock sa dingding dahil gusto ko ng maglunch break.

I hurriedly went out of my office after picking up my car keys. I saw my secretary outside. She immediately stood up from her chair and bowed a little.

"Lunch break ka na, Sir?" tanong nito.

"Yes, Martha. Do I have any appointments this afternoon?"

She picked up the planner and scanned the pages. "You have, Sir. You have a meeting with Mr. Ibañez at two, a board meeting at three thirty, an appointment with Mr. Anderson at five, and an appointment with Mr. Rodriguez at six."

Tumango-tango ako. "Okay. Cancel all my appointments, Martha."

"Sir?" gulat na tanong nito; bahagya pang nanlaki ang mga mata.

"Yes, Martha. Cancel all my appointments this afternoon onwards. Paki-reschedule na lang." nakangiti kong sabi. "And please put important documents on my table. I'll check on it first thing tomorrow morning."

Nagtataka man ay dahan-dahan siyang tumango. After thanking her, nagmamadaling sumakay ako sa elevator pababa sa basement.

I walked with big steps towards my car. Pagkapasok sa loob ay agad kong pinaandar ang kotse at saka nagmaneho palabas ng parking area.

I was smiling while driving. I am excited. Ten thirty pa lang ay gusto ko ng pumunta sa kaniya kaya inip na inip kong hinintay ang oras. Pakikipagtitigan lang ata sa orasan ang nagawa ko buong umaga.

Binilisan ko ang pagpapatakbo ng sasakyan ko. Hindi na talaga ako makapaghintay na makarating sa kaniya. I wanted to see her already.

Napamura pa ako ng makita ang mga nakahintong sasakyan sa unahan. Binagalan ko ang pagpapatakbo at nahinto ng tuluyan.

Nakapikit na sumandal ako sa upuan at hinilot ang sentido ko kasabay ng pagbuntong hininga.

Panirang traffic! Bwisit!

Iminulat kong muli ang aking mga mata at kinuha ang cellphone sa dashboard. I smiled upon seeing my wallpaper.

It was the picture of Schulaika and I taken by Cexchia. Yes, it was one of the reasons why I borrowed Schulaika's phone that time and the other? I used it to get her number.

Habang nakatitig sa picture ay hindi ko maiwasang makaramdam ng kakaiba sa aking dibdib. My heart started beating a little faster than usual.
