As much as I wish I could get off this fucking plane and get on the first one to South Carolina, I know that it's too late now. Maybe it's better that we take some time apart. She can cool down, and I figure out a way to explain everything to her.

But I can't let it go. The only thing I want to do right now is get up and go punch Luke in the face for stealing her from me. I don't know what the fuck he told her, but it was enough to convince Elle to not give me another chance.

What if I actually lost her?

I can't lose her. I just can't. She's the only person that can get me out of my own fucking head long enough to notice the stupid, awesome things that she does. I knew I was going to miss her when she left the tour, but I never thought it would suck this much.

"Calum," Ashton nudges me with his elbow. "What's with the water works?"

"Huh?" I look up at him and feel a tear fall on my cheek. "What the fuck?"

I wipe the tears out of my eyes while Ashton gives me a sympathetic look. I didn't notice I'd been crying, but now I'm just pissed that I'm crying over a girl like a fucking pussy.

But she's not just a girl.

"You're not pissed at me like everyone else?" I snap, and he frowns.

"I think there's more to the story." He sighs and runs his hand through his unruly hair. "Not gonna lie, it doesn't look good, but you're one of my best friends. I want to hear your side of the story."

"I'm not seeing Kat," I blurt out quickly. "I know it definitely looks like it from those pictures and shit, but I swear, I've never touched her. You know I wouldn't do that to Michael."

"Then why did she sleep in your room that night?" Ashton asks me, and I tense up.

"She and Michael were having problems," I say, but quickly regret as soon as I see Ashton's reaction.

"You know, being the rebound guy never works out," he warns me.

"No, not like that," I let out a frustrated sigh and decide to tell Ashton the least amount of information that I have to in order to clear the air. "Michael was too rough with her, to the point that she got freaked out. She said she wasn't comfortable staying in his room that night, so I told her she could stay in my room because her other option was not sleeping. She passed out immediately, and I slept on the couch."
