Someone Like You: Don't You Go

"Chill with the vodka, Lennie. I don't want to have to carry you home tonight." Luke awkwardly chuckled in an effort to avoid the elephant in the room. I passed him a cup of his own before filling the bottom with vodka.

"You heard Ian: we have to go play Fifty Shades for the press. I don't know about you, but I can't do that without some extra courage," I said, gesturing to the bottle in my hand. Luke sighed, tossing back the liquid and making his nose twitch in the process. "Come on bub, let's get this over with."

I walked him towards the stairs that led to the top level of the boat, which was only big enough for about 4 or 5 people to fit. There were two people sitting up top, but as soon as we got there, the couple automatically took the hint to leave. With just Luke and I left standing there, we both hesitated.

"Soooo," Luke walked over to a lounge chair and took a seat. "Should we just like... start or something?" He looked up at me standing next to the chair, unsure of how to go about this. We had to make it look like we couldn't keep our hands off of each other, when in reality, we hadn't done anything but kiss a few times for the cameras.

"I, uh, I guess just go for it." I shrugged biting down on my lip.

"Alright Lennie, let's do this." Luke reached out for me to sit with him. He placed his hands on my bare waist and pulled me onto his lap with my legs straddling him on either side. Thankfully, the Grey Goose I'd drank a moment ago was already beginning to kick in, so the uncomfortable feeling that came with straddling my friend was numbed. Luke was obviously feeling the same effect from the alcohol, because he sat up in the lounge chair and gingerly tucked a lot of hair behind my ear. I could feel his heart racing as he looked at me, the nerves from what we were doing making him extremely timid.

"Remember, no awkwardness. We're just doing this to give the press a good show." I leaned in, hoping that once we got going, the discomfort between us at the moment would dissipate. I stopped once I was less than an inch from Luke's lips, our close proximity making it impossible for me to focus my gaze on him.

"No awkwardness," Luke promised before promptly pressing his lips to mine. He pulled my hips towards him, his hands sliding backwards and landing on my butt. I tried to block it out of my mind at first, but the moment that he squeezed, I jumped from surprise.

"What was that for?" I whispered into his ear, despite the fact that no one else was around.

"Do you want this to look convincing or not?" He answered. Dammit, he was right. If this was going to look like an actual hookup, we'd have to move past our kisses-only bubble for right now.

"Fine..." I placed a row of kisses down his neck, which made Luke make a groaning sound. "So we're just going with our instincts then?" I mumbled against his skin. He took a forced breath in and bit down on his lip.

"Just try not to act visibly repulsed by the fact that I'm not Calum," Luke whispered with a half-hearted chuckle. I rolled my eyes at him but caught myself, seeing exactly what he was talking about.

"No awkwardness?" He gazed at me expectantly.

"No awkwardness." I nodded determinedly before reconnecting our lips. Luke pulled me down on top of him, helping me to readjust so that I was laying on his chest.

Either Luke was not one to dominate in a makeout session, or he still felt really awkward having to do this, but either way, I had completely taken over. I pressed my body to his and moved from Luke's mouth to his jawline, using my limited knowledge of hooking up from romantic movies as my guide for what to do.
