For the first time in 4 years I was standing in my home town, feeling more exposed and vulnerable than I ever had. The arena loomed larger than ever as I stood outside in the parking lot. The last time I was here was 4 years ago for Wrestlemania where I walked away from my best friend Roman. 4 years that I had walked away from the profession that made my blood boil and every nerve in my body come alive. Taking a deep breath I walked through the doors, handing my ticket over and making my way to the arena. There were stairs on the side and I made my way to the floor. I made a choice to be a ways away from the ramp and entrance stage since I wasn't sure if I was going to reveal myself to Roman. Tugging my leather jacket around me, I waited patiently for RAW to start. I was standing next to the stairs about some quarter ways away from the stage when the first match started. I was half paying attention, instead watching the crowd, remembering what it was like to be in the ring and hearing the crowd screaming my name. It had been awhile but I knew that at some point I was going to cave and come back to the WWE. Feeling my phone vibrate in my pocket I pulled it out and saw it was a text from Stephanie McMahon. We had left on alright terms even though at times she could be a colossal bitch especially since she hooked up with Hunter to become The Authority.

I heard from a little birdy that you were in the arena. Willing to do some commentary?

I read the text twice and shook my head with a small smile on my lips. Of course she would hear about me being in the arena. Sighing I typed out a text and hit send, feeling the familiar stirrings of excitement flutter in my belly. As the matches continued I was cheering along with everyone in the crowd, loosing myself in the familiar excitement of the atmosphere. Suddenly I felt a tap on my shoulder and a security guard was standing at my side. He handed me a pass that let me go backstage. Taking it I nodded and he backed away to the top of the stairs. Slipping it around my neck I tucked it against my chest, not wanting too many people to notice. Luckily enough no one had noticed who I was yet. I vaguely knew the storyline of WWE and I knew that Roman was a part of The Shield. It had happened right after I left and I wondered if it was because of me that he went to the Authority. I felt my heart race as I heard a familiar opening song and I shouted along with the rest of the arena as the lights dimmed. Dolph came out of the curtain and did his entrance, Lana at his side. I grinned as he strutted down the ramp, his enthusiasm electrifying. He and I had gotten along well before I left and it was good to see him. As he stood in the ring I heard another song start and my breath caught in my throat. Besides Roman he was another one of my really good friends.

Look in my eyes what do you see?

The cult of personality...

CM Punk made his way down to the ring and I hollered as loud as I could, my arms rose up high, watching the camera pan over the crowd. He jumped up onto the ropes, grinning manically to the crowd on either side. He had cut his hair short and it suited him immensely. Suddenly the music cut and another one started, this time stopping me in my tracks.

Sierra, Hotel, India, Echo, Lima, Delta. Shield...

I watched the stage, waiting to see them come out when I realized everyone was looking around and behind me. Whipping around I watched them walk out of the door that I had come from. My heart raced as I caught sight of Roman in between his two team mates. They were walking down the stairs, heading right towards me. Turning away I felt them brush past me and walk down. Letting out a breath I cursed myself for being a coward and not being able to face Roman. They leapt over the barrier and headed towards the ring. A guard came up next to me and tugged on my arm. He whispered in my ear and I winced, mentally slapping myself for not realizing what Stephanie was up to. Following him I made my way into the doors that Shield had just walked out of. I knew the way around these places like the back of my hand and it only took me a few minutes to make it to the curtain. I could hear Stephanie talking in the ring as I stood behind the curtain. I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths, preparing myself for the reaction of the crowd and Roman.
