I opened my eyes, expecting the pounding to start but I was pleasantly surprised. The TV was on and I glanced up seeing South Park and I knew Jeff was up. HE still had his arms wrapped around me and I turned, seeing his eyes open and on the TV. When he felt me move his eyes found mine, a smile growing on his face.
"Morning. How you feeling?" he asked, letting me roll onto my back, arm still supporting my head.
"I am feeling great actually." I grinned, hand on his forearm.
"Me too surprisingly." He nodded, hair loose around his shoulders for once, a mix of blue, green and gold.
"Ya I just have this weird feeling I forgot something last night." I frowned, trying to think what it could be.
Jeff shrugged, focusing on the TV as I thought about it. Our legs were tangled and I ran a hand through my hair. Suddenly I heard my phone ringing and my eyes widened.
"Shit!" I exclaimed, jumping up, "I forgot to phone Seth to let him know I made it home."
"Oh man he's gonna be worried." Jeff stated, leaning up on as elbow as he watched me root around in my jacket.
I fumbled with my phone as I saw Seth's number. I almost didn't answer, knowing he was probably going to be pissed but changed my mind and hit the green.
"Do you have any idea how out of my mind we have been going?" he shouted, and I pulled the phone from my ear wincing, "Shit Lila!"
"I'm so sorry Seth. I was so tired and I just passed out hard as soon as I got back." I apologized, sinking onto the edge of the bed, feeling bad, "I didn't mean to make you worry. I'm so sorry."
"It's fine. I'm sorry for yelling but Lila we were worried about you. You sounded completely drunk and I didn't know how you were when you drink. Then you didn't call me back and I didn't know what to think." He murmured and I felt even worse.
"I am so sorry. I promise I won't ever do that to you guys again ok?" I bit my lip, hearing him sigh.
"Ya it's her!" he called out and I knew he was talking to Roman or Dean, "Roman wants to talk to you."
"Shit."
I waited a moment as the phone exchanged hands, "Lila?"
"I'm ok Roman I promise. I didn't mean to make you worry." I sighed, ready to repeat everything I had just told Seth.
"I love you too October." He said simply, making me sit up straight.
I couldn't say anything for a moment, completely frozen in my tracks. I remembered telling Dean to tell him that but I wasn't sure if he would. I guess he did.
"I didn't deserve to say it to your face." I murmured, feeling lower than the carpet.
"Of course you do." He argued.
"Roman you're not making this easy on me right now." I said, swallowing the lump in my throat.
"I know but I had to tell you anyway. I'll see you Monday." He sighed and it sounded like it came from deep inside, "By the way Dean said to tell you if you ever did that again, he was going to kick your ass."
"He can try." I shot back before hanging up.
I let my phone drop to the carpet before crawling back up to Jeff, burying my face into his chest and promptly bursting into tears. Jeff jerked back, looking at me before holding me close, rubbing my back as my body was rocked with heaving sobs.
"What the hell brought this on?" he asked, sounding alarmed.
"I'm choosing Phil." I sobbed, hand holding onto his shoulders for dear life.
"When did you make this decision?" he mumbled, head resting on mine as I slowly calmed down.
"I'm not sure. I think I might have known since I left the hospital." I took a shuddering breath.
"Is it because Roman has Dean and Seth? Because of what he did 4 years ago?" he leaned, back brushing my hair from my tear streaked face.
"No it's because of me. Because I'm not who I was years ago and I can't risk doing what I did to him again. I can't hurt him anymore." I shook my head, "With him working with the Authority I know I couldn't be with him and watch him be a part of that."
"So you're choosing Phil because you know a repeat of 4 years ago would come." He stated, sounding sad almost.
"I don't want to lose Phil. He helped me train and he was the only one who knew when I was coming back. He helped me back to the one thing in this world that I love to do. How could I leave him?" I sniffed, lip quivering.
"So you basically came here to mourn." He said gently, making my eyes water again.
"Basically." I nodded, closing my eyes, the salty tears slipping from under my eyelashes.
Jeff groaned, pulling me close. I had never felt like this before, even the first time I walked away. My chest felt like it was caving in and my heart contracted. I knew I wasn't only losing Roman but Seth and Dean. The impact of all three was tearing me apart and it was a long time before I could let go of Jeff.
Monday morning, Phoenix airport.
"I'm sorry I'm always having a crisis when I show up to see you." I smiled, holding my ticket in my hand and my carry-on bag.
"I'd be worried if you didn't show up and your world wasn't exploding around you." He teased, pulling me into a hug in the waiting area.
"Ya I guess you're right." I laughed, throwing my hair over my shoulder, curls bouncing, "I got to go. They called my flight already."
"Take care of yourself Lila bean. No more going through tables." He admonished, kissing my cheek.
"No promises Hardy. That was our thing wasn't it?" I winked as I walked away, handing the stewardess my ticket and headed to the plane, going to Denver for RAW.
