Smackdown
Dean's match was main event so we chose to stay in the bus for the majority of the night. Tensions were running high as we waited, all of us dressed in Shield gear. I chose to wear a simple black shirt with rips across the chest instead of the vest though. My hands were taped as I sat on the table, Seth and Roman on the couch and Dean pacing. He was making me nervous and I kept glancing at the clock, seeing the time get closer. My hands were pressed against the table between my thighs, the solid feeling keeping me from a full blow panic. Finally Seth and Roman stood up, making me jump and Dean stop pacing.
"Let's do this." Seth nodded, and I jumped up, facing them.
In single file we walked out, Dean practically vibrating with energy as we strode across the lot. Going in there were people around, watching us walk by. Dean and I were in front with Seth and Roman behind. My face was tense and Dean was bouncing as he walked, hair slicked back tonight. We made it to the entrance and we waited, anxiety rising. We heard them announce the start and I let out a shaky breath. Dean was a ways away, leaning against the wall, fists pressed against it. Seth and Roman were wetting their hair and I took the opportunity to walk up to Dean. Taking his hands in mine I held them at our sides, shaking them.
"You're gonna get all tense." I told him, repeating the words he told me at my match. "You're getting all worked up for nothing."
"Now who told you something that stupid?" he smirked, gripping my fingers almost painfully.
"Some lunatic." I shrugged, letting him hold on.
That brought out the all too familiar lopsided grin and I let out a breath, feeling nervous. For the first time I noticed the ring in his ear, glinting dully in the florescent lights. Bringing a hand up I touched it, feeling the cool metal on my fingertips.
"That's new." I pointed out, dropping my hand.
"It's old actually. Just thought it worked for tonight." He shrugged, tugging on it.
I turned my head as I heard the end of Dolph's music looking towards the stage. Turning back to Dean I put my hand on his chest, fingers on the inside of his vest at the collar. Giving him a small shake I caught his attention.
"You got this. Don't get hurt." I whispered, eyes wide as I stared up at him.
I let go as the beginning of our music started and I followed Dean, Seth and Roman falling behind us. The crowd erupted as we walked down the stairs, Dean nearly running. I could see everyone watching us in the ring and I let out a breath as Dean jumped over the barrier, leaping into the ring. I followed after, adrenaline making it easier than ever and I felt Seth land next to me, flipping his hair back. We walked to Dean's corner seeing him pacing around like a caged animal. The announcer began and I barely heard anything, eyes focused on Dean. I was sandwiched between Roman and Seth as the bell rang, everyone wary around each other. I watched as Kofi and Dean went at it while Dolph and Sheamus traded blows. I kept my gaze focused on Dean, breaths coming in shallow spurts. My vision went fuzzy and suddenly everything sounded thick, like it was coming through cotton.
"Lila are you alright? You've gone kind of white." Seth asked, gazing at me from the side.
"I'm fine." I shook my head, my vision clearing slightly.
Seth reached over the time keepers area, grabbing a bottle of Gatorade. Dean glanced over at me, worry on his face when he saw my face. I gave him a weak smile, shaking my head at him. I didn't want to be the one to cause him to lose this match. Seth gave it to me and I drank deeply, feeling almost instantly better.
"I didn't eat today. I was too damn nervous." I admitted, seeing Roman frown.
Suddenly the bell rang and I faced the ring seeing Sheamus roll out of the ring looking furious. Dolph and Kofi were ganging up on Dean and I turned around, not able to watch. I faced the fans, squeezing my eyes shut. Wrapping my arms around my waist I stayed that way, feeling Roman's hand on my shoulder. I whirled around instantly when the bell rang, seeing Kofi on the mat, slowly rolling out. I let out a breath as I watch Dean and Dolph square off. My hands were by my side as I watched them fight, Dolph throwing Dean into the corner. I felt as though we had been here hours but it only could have been 15 minutes or so. My hands were shaking and Seth grabbed one while Roman grabbed the other. I must have been hurting them how hard I was squeezing. Dean managed to clothesline Dolph before landing on the ropes, looking exhausted. He made eye contact with me for a second, tongue sticking out and I grinned. He pushed off turning only to get a kick to the jaw from Dolph and they both dropped. My eyes widened as they laid there.
"Oh God. Come on Dean. You can do this." I whispered, eyes focused on him.
It was as if he heard me as he rolled, slowly getting up as Dolph did the same. Dolph grabbed at Dean and tried to pick him up only to have Dean flip over and run at the ropes, bouncing off. Grabbing Dolph he managed a running bulldog before landing on the ropes. Dolph jumped up and Dean wrapped his arm around his head. My breath picked up a notch as I watched him do a running neck breaker, lying Dolph out. Dean was lying there and he struggled over, throwing an arm around his leg. The ref dropped to the ground, hand slamming as he counted.
"1, 2, 3! And your new United States Champion, Dean Ambrose!"
I was completely frozen as the crowds cheered, Dolph rolling out of the ring. Seth and Roman let go of my hand as the ref handed Dean his title. He was on his knees holding it up, looking almost as shocked as I felt. Seth and Roman jumped into the ring, Seth slamming him on the back despite him just being in a fight. Roman grabbed his head, hugging him tightly. I could just stand there mouth open as I watched. Finally snapping out of it I slid into the ring, getting to my feet. Dean's blue eyes found me from the mess of arms around him and he grinned.
"You did it!" I shouted, letting out a laugh.
Roman and Seth stepped back and I launched myself at him, wrapping my arms around his neck. The title was slapping the back of my legs as he held me tightly, his heart beating fast against my chest. Letting my down I grabbed his hand, raising it up. The crowd was on its feet and I pushed my hair from my face seeing the lights flashing. Seth grabbed my other hand and Roman grabbed Dean's other one. All out hands were in the air and I moved away, Roman and Seth picking up Dean, resting him on their shoulders. I stepped back, committing this to memory. I bit my lip as Dean held up the title, a wide grin on his face. Suddenly though the lights went out and we were shrouded in complete darkness. On the titration flashed dark and sinister images and I knew I let my guard down too long. A hand was clamped around my ankle and I was about to shriek when a hand clamped around my mouth. I could feel myself being dragged up the ramp and I struggled against the person. I knew it was the Wyatt's and I fought back as best as I could.
"Yes celebrate boys. No matter if you're a Champion or the most dominant force in this industry, you can't stop the inevitable." Bray's voice rang out through the darkness, the crowd booing instantly, "You can't fight Sister Abigail."
