A Second Chance

Crib

A couple days later.

George always takes Jessica out for lunch, and today she wanted Chick-fil-a.

"How are you feeling? You know, since the surgery?"

"I good! I'm back to normal." She smiles.

"Well that's good. Jess, you don't know how worried I was. When I heard that you had.. You know, cancer... I just wanted to scream.

You're my big sister, and I love you. Yeah growing up I hated your guts, but you've grown one me.. Like a rash."

"Thanks?" Jessica laughs.

He chuckles and says, "That was a compliment!"

"You've always had a way with words, Georgie!" She laughs.

"Yep!"

"So Jess, I was gonna ask, are you having a baby shower?"

"No, I don't think so."

"Why not?!"

"Well, baby showers are for first time moms, and I don't know, I just don't want one."

"They're not just for first time moms, besides it'll be good for you to have one!

It's been so long since you've had a baby, that you need everything! People wanna buy it for you, so you might as well take advantage of it!"

"Yeah, I guess so..

Oh gosh! George, that reminds me! Look at this crib I found on Pinterest!" Jessica gets her phone out and looks for the picture.

"Look! Can you imagine my little man in that?!" She smiles and shows him.

"Awe! I can!" He smiles.

"It even turns into a big boy bed!"

*Chuckles*  "You should put that on your baby registry!"

"I'm not gonna ask someone to spend a thousand dollars on a crib!

... I guess he doesn't need a crib, he'll probably just sleep with me. I really want to decorate his own little room for him, but it isn't the same."

"Jess come on, Sam would want you to do it."

"Yeah... But there's not even room!  I need an extra room in the house." She looks down with a sad look.

"Why don't you use Sam's room?"

"But that's His room."

"But wouldn't it be special if it was the baby's room?

You've been wanting to clear out some of it, why not just clear it all out, then it will be Sam and the baby's room."

A soft smile appears on Jessica's face, and she says, "Well I guess that would be cool to give him Sam's room!"

"Yeah, wouldn't it? And I'll help you clean everything out. We can paint it, and make it really nice for him."
