Your P.O.V:

I turned to face Laurance's sleeping figure. He was probably so tired from "babysitting" me the whole day.

After I kicked out Travis and Katelyn, Laurance and I talked for a bit before I found myself talking to myself, and by myself.

Getting bored, I quietly strolled out of Laurance's room to get an apple from the kitchen.

"(Y/n)! I've been looking for you everywhere!" Nicole exclaimed. I nodded, pretending as if I was attentive towards all her squealing. Nicole noticed this and tugged my arm to come with her.

"Ugh, what do want from me?!" I groaned in protest. Nicole sat me by the dinning table.

"Well to catch up with you of course!" She replied. I sighed and nodded.

"Go ahead, ask away." I said. Nicole nodded.

"How's mom?" She asked. I shrugged.

"She's fine I guess. I left the stupid island anyways." I reasoned. Nicole's eyebrows went up.

"Finally! When we were younger, you looked miserable ther- wait, did you say 'stupid island'?" Nicole interjected. I clicked my tongue in response.

"I feel like it deserved that name after 19 years of living there." I said. Nicole shook her head.

"Why can't you just call it Vana'diel? You know, the original name of the island?" She asked in a 'duh' tone. I rolled my eyes, not even supplying her with an answer. Then, a question came to mind.

"How did... how did Dad die?" I asked. Nicole's grey eyes darkened more than their colour already was.

"H-he was sick. But he lived a good life; especially after a war like the Phoenix War." She reasoned. I nodded in understanding; knowing about the war Laurance told me about.

"(Y/n), why are you so rude to Aphmau?" Nicole asked. I froze.

Am I that mean to her? I thought.

I shrugged my shoulders. Nicole frowned.

"I'm serious (Y/n)! Why? She hasn't done anything to you!" Nicole exclaimed. I rolled my eyes and leaned back in my chair.

"Look, I don't need you snooping into my business okay? I just came back from nearly being forced into marriage. I do not need your judgement upon my life; the same life you were nearly no longer apart of! So leave me alone!" I exclaimed. Nicole's eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.

"You were nearly forced into marriage?!" She asked. I scoffed.

"Look, just apologize, okay?" She asked softly. I stood up abruptly.

"Nicole, stop it! You can say sorry to your new sister anytime you want! But to me, she's a stranger!" I angrily exclaimed. Nicole's lips pressed together firmly.

"Fine! Let's just talk about another topic." I contemplated whether a new topic would be a good thing, or a bad thing.

"Sure." I sighed as I settled back down. Nicole's expression went from annoyed to excited.

"So, what's going on between you and Laurance?" She asked as she wriggled her eyebrows. I groaned in frustration.

"What do you mean?" I asked annoyed. Nicole raised her left brow.

"Oh come on, everyone has already noticed it! Katelyn even told me that you guys were in a room together- alone!" She squealed. I covered my ears to protect them from the sound of a dying horse.

I grunted once she finished, and grabbed the apple I had been longing for from the center bowl on the table.

"Well, he cried for me." I reasoned. Nicole looked at me, confused with my reply.

"I think it was because I had neglected him. I was mad at him because he... he..." I struggled to find words.

"Ugh, just say it!" Nicole pressured. I frowned.

"I... saw him kiss Aphmau on our way back to the ship!" I blurted out, the faint memory still in my head. Nicole nodded softly.

"So... you were jealous?" She asked. I shook my head furiously.

"No!" I replied bluntly. Nicole rolled her eyes in disagreement.

"Yeah, sure. But this makes sense! Aphmau said that she thinks that the past incident is the reason why you're mad at her. She confessed to kissing Laurance herself." Nicole said. My lips parted but I quickly closed them again. A wave of relief had just washed over me.

"S-so, Laurance didn't kiss Aphmau willingly?" I asked. Nicole nodded. I quickly stood up.

"Go get 'em tiger!" Nicole cheered. I rolled my eyes and made my way to the stairs. I turned back to hug Nicole.

"Thanks for the stupid talk." I muttered. Before leaving to dart back up the stairs.

"Anytime (Y/n)." I heard her say before I left.
