Your P.O.V:

~After the long boat ride~

Location: New Meteli

Purpose of being there: to borrow supplies for the upbringing of the land of the Phoenix Alliance.

"Ahhh!" Emmalyn breathed out as she stretched her arms. "You smell that (Y/n)? That's the smell of Meteli's invigorating history!" she exclaimed. I rolled my eyes.

"No, it's the smell of cow crap from the farm I see ahead," I retorted. Emmalyn frowned.

"Oh, don't be a Grinch! We're finally here, out of that crummy ship... you should be a bit more lively!" she reasoned while lightly smacking my arm. I looked down at the spot on my arm that she had slapped before glancing up at her.

"What's a Grinch?" I asked flatly. Emmalyn ignored my question.

"Oh, I hope there's a library here! Then, you and I could research about that weird connection thing you have with Laurance," she thought aloud. I began to ponder on it for a moment.

That didn't sound like such a bad idea, actually. I had almost forgotten all about it. Although now that I thought of it, seeing Laurance in a dream or two would be nice during the time we're away from each other.

I wonder if he misses me...

"Sure," I replied. Emmalyn smiled, "that's great! But we need to let Aphmau know about it first. 'Never know if she might need us for something." I nodded curtly.

"You're right. In speaking of Aphmau, where did she go?" I asked, looking around to see if there was any trace of her.

I decided that keeping a close eye on Aphmau was probably the best thing to do for the next few days. Ever since she had fought with Gene, I still continued to feel bad about leaving her behind in the forest to fend for herself. So I made it my personal duty to watch her at all costs.

In fact, everybody was making sure she was okay. Especially Katelyn and the masked man, Aaron. He had been around her an awful lot lately. It got me a bit suspicious of his relationship with Aphmau. I contemplated asking Aphmau about it, but I knew it wasn't my place to inquire about such thing.

But it still made me wonder...

"I think she and Katelyn left to go see Cadenza, the lord of New Meteli," Emmalyn responded, interrupting my train of thought. Suddenly, her eyes went wide.

"Oh my, Irene! I nearly forgot," Emmalyn gasped. I blinked.

"What?" I inquired curiously. Emmalyn darted her eyes, trying her best to hide a smile.

"Well," she started, "you might want to see Cadenza if you get the chance. You'll be surprised to find out who she is." I raised a brow.

"What do you mean?" I asked. Emmalyn just shrugged her shoulders.

"You're just going to have to find out yourself!" she piped up, before skipping off to Irene-knows-where; leaving me deep in my thoughts.

I looked around and began to stroll about. To be honest, Mateli was a very decent village (ignoring the funky smell that wafted from the farm). In fact, it seemed like everything in this village ran smoothly on a daily basis.

And you want to know what added on to the view of the place? The weather. Even though it was autumn, the breeze wasn't as overpowering as it had been last week in Phoenix Drop.

Wow, had it really only been a little over one week since our departure? It felt like an eternity. Especially without--

Don't think about him, I soothed. It'll only make you more miserable...

I spotted a small forest soon after, so I decided to make my way over there. It seemed secluded enough to have some alone time. I quickly jogged forward to find a perfect spot-- or a tree, even. Any place to try and take my mind off of Laurance in Phoenix Drop.

I stopped in front of a tree that looked oh-so-familiar. It had a hollow shape to it; it almost looked like a bowl...

3rd Person P.O.V:

"This almost looks like the tree from Scaleswind," you muttered under your breath. Your heart sunk at the thought.

It looked exactly like the tree you and Laurance rested in during the day you had been hyperactively running on pancakes from your breakfast that morning.

You two were in each other's arms at the time; in each other's warm embrace. But now, you two were apart. The lone thought made you think. The two of you had never been away from each other before (disregarding the time you were captured by the Eastern wolf tribe). Especially after the two of you had established such a close relationship.

"Why am I so vulnerable?" you asked yourself, getting away from the tree that once stood in front of you. You sighed.

Why was it that all of a sudden, you were incapable of functioning properly without having Laurance with you?

"Laurance..." you whispered. His name rolled off your tongue as if saying it was like second nature.

"This is stupid. I'm being cranky for no good reason!" you exclaimed, coming to a realization while throwing your hands up in exasperation. The stubborn and cocky side of you was beginning to get the best of you.

Turning around, you marched back towards the direction you had come from, a smirk plastered across your lips.

No. You refused to let your "love" for somebody get in the way of what you were supposed to do. Aphmau and Katelyn needed you on this expedition for a reason. Otherwise, you would've been with Laurance, in his arms... giving each other sweet kis--

"ARGH! No! I refuse to compromise with my fabricated emotions!" you shouted out loud. Anybody who had heard you probably thought you were crazy (personally, I would think you're crazy). But at this point, you didn't care. This was your way of coping with your departure from Phoenix Drop.

This was your way of calming yourself down. So you wouldn't become a "Grinch" like Emmalyn had said.

Whatever the heck that was...

(A/n): I'm trying my BEST to update. I just have so much to do!! But, hey? 1000 words in two hours isn't so bad, eh?
