3 Months Later...

"Emmalyn, it's just a snake."

"Just a snake?! Are you even human? Look at it!"

You stared boredly at the slithering reptile, sighing in exasperation. You shook your head. "I'm looking at the snake...what next?"

"You're weird," Emmalyn stated, her hands still gripping your left arm. "I don't really like this island. There are way too many snakes, here."

"I actually like it here," you replied with a shrug, walking forward into the woods with Emmalyn following closely at your side. "It has a nice atmosphere."

"You want to know what had a nice atmosphere?" Emmalyn asked rhetorically, a hint of irritation in her voice as she stepped over what she hoped to be a bit of green tree moss.

"What?"

"New Meteli. I want to go back there."

"Yeah, I guess it was alright," you said with a one-sided shrug (as Emmalyn was still holding onto your other arm for dear life). "It was very...bright...and smelled like crap. But Cadenza was awesome."

Cadenza. Just the thought of her brought a smile to your face. She was such a nice person. Leaving New Meteli had been surprisingly hard for you. But you'd promised to go back there with Laurance for a visit.

But besides the fact that she was kind, she was one of funniest, most relatable people you'd ever met. She shared your humour, for Irene's sake.

Barely anybody understood your dark humour. Well, except for Emmalyn.

And Laurance.

Your heart ached for him, so, very much. It'd been a while since you last saw him; about three months?

'Wow,' you thought. 'It's so hard to believe that three months have already passed...'

But perhaps the time apart had been a good thing. Tough, but good.

All the time apart had made you realize a few things. It enabled you to truly identify what you were missing; the things about yourself that you needed to improve on.

And besides, Laurance would be waiting for you back home. It's not like the two of weren't together. The two of you were simply thousands of miles away.

And could wait to tell him all about this expedition. Quite a lot had happened within the last two months.

"When did Aphmau say Lucinda would build the portal back to Phoenix Drop?" you inquired, suddenly anxious to get back home.

"She said sometime this week," the librarian replied. "She wants some of the houses on this island to be completed so that some of the people living in Phoenix Drop would be able to move in faster."

You nodded in response. Since arriving on the new land, the last two months had been about building; from merchant stands to houses...

Even the stables. And considering the fact that there weren't many stable-animals on the island, just proved how productive the team had gotten since arriving.

"I just can't wait to get back home," you commented. "And take a long shower---" you paused for a second.

"Then, sleep in for a few hundred years." Emmalyn laughed with a shake of her head.

"Same, here! By now, Kenmur should be back in Phoenix Drop so, I'll finally be able to spend some time with him."

"Make up for lost time?"
