DON'T START MUSIC YET!

Laurance's P.O.V:

The sound of my blade echoed through the forest. That was the sixth time shadow souls had invaded the island. I looked to my right and spotted (Y/n). She seemed... Happy?

"Why do you seem so excited?" I asked. (Y/n) smiled.

"Because I feel like I haven't used a sword in so long! It feels great," she replied as she adjusted her grip on the sword. She had collected all the ones she had left at her old house.

(Y/n) looked around the forest clearing. She seemed to be in deep thought.

"We haven't had any shadow soul invasions for a long time. It's hard to believe that they still roam the area," she orated. I slid my sword back in my sheath before walking around.

We where still in Vana'diel. In fact, we were supposed to be out of here the previous week! But with all the shadow souls roaming freely, it was dangerous and a bit rude to leave the villagers to fight them off themselves.

(Y/n) shook her head; her eyebrows furrowed.

"Ugh! This is so stupid! I just don't understand. Every single day, there's shadow souls to kill, yet we can't find a nether portal! Where are they coming from?" I put a calming hand on her shoulder.

"Hey, don't worry. We're getting off this island today. Once we're in Phoenix Drop, you'll feel less antsy." (Y/n) frowned.

"Hey! I'm not antsy you idiot!" She replied. I smirked.

"You mean 'handsome idiot'?" I asked playfully. (Y/n) rolled her eyes.

"You are impossible!" She exclaimed. She began to walk out of the clearing with me trailing behind her.

I had to admit, these shadow souls were getting ridiculously annoying. We wasted a whole week killing them off, only for them to return.

But we couldn't go on like this forever. At some point, we had to leave. And that was what we were going to do today.

Your P.O.V:

"You ready Emmalyn?" I asked. Emmalyn adjusted her glasses before nodding.

"Yep! All ready to go! I can't wait to get back to Phoenix Drop! Then, I can experiment on both you and Aphmau!" I raised a questioning brow.

"Why do you need to experiment on Aphmau?" I asked. Emmalyn looked directly at me and abruptly held onto my shoulders.

"Have I not told you about this?!" I looked around awkwardly; my body tensed.

"Um, I don't think so-"

"Were you not listening?!" Emmalyn cut in. I relaxed a bit when I spotted Laurance. I averted my eyes from his direction.

"Um, probably not," I answered. Emmalyn gasped loudly. It was so dramatic, one of the men in charge of the docks looked at her weirdly. Emmalyn shook her head in disappointment.
