The next morning
The loud bang on the door woke me up. My eyes immediately moved to Michael who was still peacefully sleeping. He was on his back, his hands up by his head and his head tilted in the opposite way. Considering it was our first night together Michael had been pretty good, he slept the whole night and didn't wake up or anything.
My body was still numb from everything and I still couldn't believe I had given birth, I didn't realise my body was capable of that...like the fact that I was able to push out a baby from...there. It still ached slightly but I ignored it. I'd get over this pain.
"Zayn open up!" it was Tricia's voice. What was she even doing here? I thought she wouldn't come near our house for a good month or so. I mean especially with everything she's done, I can't believe she still has the nerve to come here.
I glanced behind me to see that Zayn was still asleep and I slowly peeled myself away from him, my charm bracelet pressed against my wrist and then I remembered last night when Zayn gave me that gift. Now in the morning light I could make out the name Michael which was carefully drawn.
"please Zayn!" It was Tricia and I remembered she was still outside. Walking out into the corridor, I glanced to the right to see that my mum's door was shut which meant she was still asleep. I think it was 9 am in the morning and nobody was awake.
I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually felt sorry for tricia. I know what its like to be ripped away form the one thing you love and even though in her own crazy way I know she loved Michael before her was even conceived! She banged on the door once more and I decided I would open it. I know Zayn told me not to but I couldn't help it. I hated seeing anyone like that no matter what they did to me.
I started making a route downstairs but just as I was about to take the first step Zayn placed his hand on mine almost catching me by surprise. In the back Michael cried for attention. "Lexi, I know what you are doing..." he said then tilted his head in Michael's direction "You should go see to him."
I was a little bit annoyed that Zayn wouldn't let me do what I wanted to do but I let it go and made my way back inside our room to feed Michael. As I fed Michael I made sure I kept the door a tad open so that I was able to hear their whole conversation.
"Zayn please I'm sorry! I was stupid to do that." Tricia cried and when I strained my ears I realised she really was crying "Please forgive me, I just want to see my grandson. Please."
"you should leave." said Zayn and his voice was so stern that he almost had no remorse for his crying, weeping mother. "this is the Pike's property and you're not welcome here."
"but Zayn....I'm your mother." she said.
"And Lexi's my wife and you did not treat her with respect." said Zayn. "Now if you excuse me, I need to get back." With that he shut the door on her and made his way upstairs.
As he entered the room, he remained silent and ran a hand down his face. I could tell this was stressing him out and I remained quiet, turning my attention to Michael. Once he was fed, I burped him and laid him down where he continued staring up at the ceiling in fascination.
"How long is this going to be?" I finally asked and he looked at me confused "Your attitude towards your mother."
He rolled his eyes and looked away, acting like a teenage boy. "forever."
I stood up and walked towards him. "She's your mother Zayn, and Michael's grandmother. She needs to see her grandchild—"
"seriously?! After everything she's put you through, you want to stand up for her?" Zayn said stepping away. "She was the one who tried to separate you from us! Don't you hate her?!"
