Chapter ten: down-on-one-leg surprise!

Yay I finally posted a chapter. Sorry for the long wait. It's close to exam time here so I'm trying to finish off all my assignments -so I'll only be updating once in two weeks. Sorry.

Whitney Houston, I will always love you blasted out from my mums car. Don't get me wrong I love Whitney and I love all her songs......just not now when I've listened to this track a thousand times!!!

I swear I'm going insane by the minute just listening to this, I feel like I'm shell shocked with my fingers so tight around the car wheel that I was sure I'd break any minute. I need a break and I NEED silence. Right now.

Listening to nothing but old songs for four hours wasn't my ideal of fun, hell I didn't WANT to drive but I was forced to since mum didn't feel "in the mood to drive" and Chloe didn't know how to drive.

Now here I am sitting in the uncomfortable seats of my mums buggy and driving for four hours, ever since 7 this morning and now it's 11 and I'm really hungry.

Want to know why I was trapped in this car for four agonising hours? Want to know why we were driving out in the middle of nowhere -okay I'm joking. We were on the main road and we had passed quite a few small towns in Aussie but other than that we were surrounded by dry deserted Australian grounds and maybe a tumbleweed here and there.

We were going to the Malik's beach house in Gold Coast for.......drum roll please.......our rather not necessary engagement party! Yayyyyyyyyy! Not.

I did not want to be dragged all the way out here to attend my engagement. Don't get me wrong I like zayn and I'm ecstatic that we are getting engaged.....I just didn't want a BIG Engagement party.

To be honest I was fine with the normal ones at home with just close family, where you cut a cake and receive the ring -that is completely fine with me. I don't want this.....there are already 100+ people invited, half is my family and the rest is zayns friends and family. There'll be photos after photos of nagging aunties and stubborn mothers........honestly Im not looking forward to this party.

Silence.....that's all that filled the car. Sweet mother of good things, silence! My eardrums stopped beating like a Congo drum and I was finally able to relax.

'Chloe Marilyn pike!' My mother scolded from her legs-stretched-across-the-length-of-the-seat position, slapped Chloe on the head with the back of her book.

I glanced over at Chloe who was rubbing her abused head a scowl on her face. 'Oh come on mum, I've got a headache listening to this stupid song.'

Huh guess I wasn't the only person annoyed with the racket.

'No, missy you turn on that radio again or I'll-'

'We arrived!!!!' I shouted cutting off my mother in mid sentence. The sweet sound of pulling up at the Malik's driveway was like bliss to my ears. I couldn't stop the smile from escaping my lips because A -I'm ear shot away from mum and her songs and B- I'll get to see zayn!
