Not really~ Eren x Reader

Your best friend was dating Eren. Then, they broke up but they still liked each other. After a while, you had feelings for him. Unfortunately, that ended up making a love triangle.

You wanted your best friend to be happy and you felt bad for liking Eren but you couldn't help it. He was funny, sweet, cute and many other things that would take too long to list.

It had been eight months with the triangle and you were exhausted. You wanted Eren to decide but, of course, you wanted him to pick you.

Someone knocked on your bedroom door. You opened it to see your best friend. "Hey." You moved over so she could step inside your room. She did so and you closed the door behind her.

"Hey." She replied, sitting down on your bed. You sat down next to her.

"Are you going to tell me what's wro--" you began.

"What if he doesn't pick me or you? Will we still be friends?" She asked nervously.

"Of course we will." You replied. "We're always going to be friends."

"I'm glad." She smiled at you. You smiled back at her.

You sighed. There had been a class field trip to a ski lodge. Eren and (girl best friend's name) were in the same class. You wanted to relax on the trip but that wouldn't happen now because of the triangle.

"Eren, we have to figure this out." You said, looking at the boy beside you.

"I know, I just don't want anyone to get hurt." He replied.

"Well, have you made a decision or not?" Your best friend asked him. He sighed.

"Almost. You're both great."

"Okay, that's nice and everything, but we really have to solve the triangle." You said.

"I know, I know."

"Well, I'm tired of waiting, Eren." Your friend replied.

"You don't think I am? I want to end this and I want all of us to remain close. But, how can we if I choose?"

You stayed silent, your gaze went to your lap. Eren got up and walked off. You glanced at your friend.

"What do we do?"

"We wait for him to make a decision. . . Or one of us can let him go. I'm not saying you, just one of us. Maybe me, I'm not sure."

"(Girl best friend's name), you shouldn't have to. You like him. I like him, too. . . We should wait."

"Yeah, you're right. I'm going to go ask someone a question about this place." She got up and walked over to the front desk. You saw her talk to a boy. He said something and she laughed. Eren entered the room, watching them. He looked surprised and then angry.

Your heart broke a bit. He never got jealous when you talked to boys. Now, he's jealous over your friend. You looked at your lap, biting your lip. Eren sat down next to you, "Hi."

"Hi." You replied. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I guess." Eren sighed.

"He's just some guy, Eren. There's no need to get upset. . . She likes you. You know that."

His expression softened. "You can tell that I'm jealous?" He asked. You nodded. "Sorry."

"You don't have to be sorry." You said.

The jealousy only continued. You had hoped that it wouldn't, but it did. He would just glare at the boy your friend was talking to. Yet, when your old crush was talking to you, he didn't really care. Was he confident that you wouldn't hurt him or did he just like your friend more? You hoped it was the first one, but you doubted it.

And then there was his decision.

Eren sat down next to you. "Hi."

"Hi." You replied, smiling. He sighed, looking guilty.

"(y/n), I. . ." He trailed off, licking his bottom lip, trying to find the right words to say. "I've realized that I'm ready to make a decision. I'm sorry it took me so long. . . I'm sorry, I never wanted to break your heart, but I choose (friend's name)."

The blood felt like it was drained from your face and it felt like everything slowed down. "Oh. You should go find her and tell her." You said.

"I'm sorry."

"It's okay." You replied, giving him a small smile.

"Can we still be friends?" He asked.

"Of course." You both leaned forward and hugged.

But, you knew it wouldn't be the same.

Not really.
