Modern AU. Part two of "Betrayal."

You arrived at your house, going straight to the room you shared with Levi. You grabbed your two suitcases from the closet and opened them. You packed your belongings and grabbed your suitcases, one in each hand.

You walked to the front door and placed one suitcase on the ground. You opened the door to head to your car, but your eyes widened when you saw your ex-boyfriend. You dropped the suitcase you were holding. Before you knew it, you asked, "What are you doing here?"

"(y/n), I told you an hour ago. I love you and I won't let you go." He said. You scoffed.

"You don't love me. Stop pretending, Ackerman." You crossed your arms. Levi's heart shattered, hearing you call him by his last name.

"Is that what you think?"

"I don't know, why don't you ask Petra?" You shot, rolling your eyes. You felt nothing but sadness and anger toward the male.

"Come on, (y/n), you can't be serious." He sighed.

"Are you kidding me? You cheated on me, Levi, with my best friend! If this happened two years ago, I wouldn't be so upset. But, this happened today. Please. . . Just go."

The wall you put up between you and your emotions was crumbling. You continued looking at him as your eyes filled with tears. Levi shook his head. "I still love you."

"Levi, don't. Leave before I-- Before I call the police!" You threatened. "I don't care about what will happen to you."

"(y/n)," Levi stepped towards you. You moved backwards.

"Stop! Get out! I'll punch you again!" You replied, angry and frightened.

"I don't care. (y/n), I need you in my life."

"Get out! Get out!" You screamed.

"(y/n), I live here, too."

"Well, I don't! Not anymore! So, let me leave!" You exclaimed. "You're insane! I don't love you! When I loved you, y-you were nice and you were so good to me. You cared about me. Now, you don't--"

"I do! What I had with Petra. . . That was a mistake--"

"Then, tell me honestly. . . If I reject you, will you go back to her?" You glared at him, your voice low and full of anger.

"(y/n), I can't tell you that. I don't know what will happen in the future." He said.

"I do. You'll let me leave and then you'll call up Ral, telling her you love her." You said.

"You can't see the future." He whispered. You froze, speechless. "You still love me, (y/n), whether you like it or not. Because, I still love you."

"You're wrong." But, you can't even believe your own words. You had loved him, but did you still love him? You weren't sure. He broke your heart. Plus, he wasn't easy to love. He didn't give away any emotion in his voice and eyes. It was rare if he did. The only way you knew he loved you was if he told you or if he gave you a rare smile.

Apparently, he had loved Petra. He showed her affection. Soft kisses, emotion in his voice, hand holding, hands intertwined.

Petra's lipstick was smudged when you found her with Levi. He had obviously kissed her a lot and her lips were bruised from those kisses. He was good to her. . . Better than he was to you.

And then you knew your decision as Levi leaned in. Right before his lips touched yours, you put your hand in front of your mouth, shielding it from his. His lips touched your hand and his eyes widened. You took a few steps back, removing your hand from your lips. "I can't. You're wrong, Levi. You treated her better. You loved her more."

"You don't know that." He replied.

"Shut up. I do. The smudged lipstick and bruised lips. . . Everything." Tears filled your eyes again. "I'm done here. Move."

"(y/n)--"

"I said 'move!'" You yelled, upset.

"Do you remember when we met?" He asked.

"What the-- Of course I do." You snapped. "What does that have to do with anything?"

"Do you remember the outfit you were wearing? How your hair was styled?"

"No." You answered, crossing your arm.

"You were wearing your favorite shirt, shorts, and a pair of black converse. Your hair was up and you were wearing eyeliner." He said.

"Wow, that changes nothing." You glared at him.

"(y/n), you were stressed about your job and I calmed you down. I remember thinking, 'this girl is the one I want to walk through life with. I want her by my side.' And I saw you again. . . You thanked me for the other day and asked if I wanted to go grab a cup of coffee with you as a thank you."

Your gaze softened as you swallowed. "Levi, I don't know if I can forgive you. I thought you were the one. . . Just give me a reason to not leave. A good one. . . And maybe I'll stay."

"Because, you're everything to me. I need you in my life. I love you."

You shook your head, biting your lip. Levi sighed, heartbroken. You reached over, quickly placing one hand on the back of his neck and pulling him to you. You slammed your lips onto his and closed your eyes. His eyes widened as he was full of surprise. He returned the kiss, shutting his eyes. He placed his hands on your waist.

You pulled away, looking at him. "What you did isn't okay. . . But, I'm going to give you another chance. Just one more."

"I won't let you down. I'll never cheat on you again." He replied.

Years later, you were engaged and then married.
