Part two of "Liar." Requested by Hun_bun. Modern AU.
-------------------------------Your daughter was at Reiner's house. It had been a few years since she was born. Nothing had happened between you and Reiner. You were fine with that. You didn't hate him, but you wouldn't call him a friend.
Co-workers would be a way to put it. Well, co-workers who aren't friends. They do their job and work together. That's it.
You let out a sigh. You were completely bored. You didn't have your daughter, (girl name), to play with or any friends to hang out with. You called your Mom. She answered, "Hello?"
"Hi, Mom. I, uh, was wondering if you wanted to hang out."
"Sure!" Your Mom smiled. "Come over!"
"Is now okay?"
"Of course!" She exclaimed.
"Okay, I'll start heading there." You let out a light laugh. "Love you."
"Love you too. See you soon."
"Bye." You smiled.
You started driving to your Mom's house. Reiner sent you a text.
It looks like (daughter name) caught a cold. I gave her some medicine, though. She seems to be a bit better already.
You replied to him before grabbing your car keys. You drove to your Mom's house.
She greeted you with a hug. "It's good to see you!"
"Yeah, it's good to see you too!" You hugged back. "I missed you."
"I missed you too, sweetie." Your Mom beamed. "How have you been?"
"I've been good. (Daughter name) is with Reiner. She caught a cold, but he gave her a medicine. She should be better soon." You replied.
"It looks like he's trying to impress you." Your Mom winked.
"What do you mean, Mom?" You asked. Your eyebrows knitted together in confusion.
"(y/n), you're never oblivious. I know that much. You knew when Reiner liked you and asked you if you wanted to go out. You knew he meant a date, didn't you? So, why now? He is trying to be a good father to get you back."
"That's crazy -- No, wait, that's absolutely insane. I told him I didn't feel the same years ago." You explained.
"Exactly. Years ago. Feelings can change, I bet he thinks that. Plus, it's not like it's ten years ago. A few years." Your Mom pointed out.
You let out a sigh. She was right. He could think your feelings changed. But, he could be over you.
"I don't know, Mom. He could be over me and that's fine. It doesn't effect me. This was a few years ago. You'll always remember past relationships, but that doesn't mean you miss the person." You said. "How have you been?"
"I've been good." Your Mom replied.
Later, you received another text from Reiner.
She's a lot better now. I made her some soup.
You replied to him before arriving at your house. Reiner was supposed to be dropping her off in an hour.
You decided to watch some TV while you waited.
--
You heard the doorbell ring. You went to the door and opened it. You hugged (Daughter name) before she went inside. You can come, too, if you want." You said.
Reiner entered the house. "Thanks."
"Mhm." You closed the door. "How have you been?"
"I've been okay." He replied, looking at you.
"Oh."
"(y/n), I have to talk to you. Please." He pleaded.
You let out a sigh. "Okay, come inside my room so we can talk." You opened the door and he went inside. You followed him and closed the door. "What is it, Reiner?"
"I-- I just. . ." He walked over to you and put his hands on your cheeks, kissing you. You blinked, surprised.
You forcefully pushed him away from you. Not enough to hurt him, but enough to get him away from you. He looked surprised, "You don't feel anything?"
"No, Reiner, I don't. I don't feel the sparks, the fireworks. I don't love you anymore, okay? I. . . I think you should go." You said, taking a deep breath.
He looked disappointed. "Yeah, you're right. I should have expected that. I'm sorry."
You stayed silent, not knowing what to say. He left the room. This was very awkward for you. You sighed, texting your Mom before going over to your daughter.
