Batman ran to the Batcave, and jumped into the Batmobile. He had told Robin to stay behind, because he had to find out what Joker was doing on his own. The problem was that there was a crowd of people in the middle of the street. Batman had to slam on the brakes to stop himself from crashing into a news reporter. The reporter grinned when she saw him and jogged up to his window, which he rolled down to talk to her. There was a very annoyed look on his face. The reporter didn't seem to notice.
"Batman! I'm so glad to see you!" the reporter said to him.
"Why is there so many people in the middle of the road?" Batman asked.
"We're all here to talk to you about the big announcement of you and the Joker. First question: why are we only hearing about your relationship with him now?" the reporter asked.
"Look, I don't have time for this. Can you clear the roads? I need to talk to the Joker," Batman said in return. There were a few 'aww's in the audience. "Not like that!" Batman yelled back.
With that, Batman revved up his car which cleared the road. He drove as fast as he could through the city, keeping an eye out for his enemy. After a long time, he finally saw a familiar streak of green hair sitting in the middle of a large group of people. It looked like he was answering questions that the media had for him. Batman finally got why he lied about the two of them dating. The Joker was doing all of this for the attention. It seemed so much like something that he would do, Batman wondered why he hadn't considered the option before then. Unfortunately, Joker noticed the large vehicle and started to walk over to it. Batman got out of his car and slammed its door. Surprisingly, Joker looked delighted to see his enemy. Batman didn't share the same enthusiasm.
"Batsy! It's been a while since I've seen you my sugarplum," Joker greeted his 'boyfriend.'
"Joker, are you seriously lying about our relationship just to be noticed by the members of Gotham City?" Batman angrily asked.
"You don't need to be scared about telling people about our relationship anymore, babe. Everyone knows now," Joker innocently replied.
"Don't call me babe. For that matter, don't give me any cute nicknames," Batman responded, narrowing his eyes.
"I can't keep any promises, my sweet," Joker said, batting his eyelashes.
Batman groaned and turned around to leave.
"What? No goodbye kiss?" Joker asked, pointing to his cheek.
Batman turned back around and punched Joker straight in the jaw. Then he walked over to his car and drove back home. Alfred greeted him when he got back to the Batcave, a stern look on his face, which was odd. Bruce took off his cowl and went to talk to his butler about what was wrong. Alfred beat him to the start of the conversation.
"Master Bruce, why have you never told me about your romance with the Joker? You know that I'm willing to talk to you about anything," the butler told his sort-of-son.
"Look, I'm not dating the Joker. He's just making stuff up so that he can get attention again," Bruce responded, crossing his arms.
"Really? Then why was the Joker being all chummy with you earlier today?" Alfred asked.
"He'd probably kiss me if it meant that he wouldn't be overlooked by the public again," Bruce pointed out.
"Still, what if all of this goes to his head and he actually does fall for you?" Alfred asked.
"Trust me, the only person that the Joker cares about is himself," Bruce responded, turning to leave.
