Joker waited on the third highest skyscraper in Gotham, like he and Bruce had agreed on, checking his watch. Batman should've been there by now. Had Bruce Wayne not told Batman to come here? The billionaire seemed so nice, though. Why wouldn't he tell his roommate about the meetup? Joker sighed, thinking of how foolish he had been to think that Batman would go out of his way just to be with him. The clown turned to leave, putting his hands in his pockets. Suddenly, he felt a light tap on his shoulder. He turned around to see who it might be. There he was, Batman, the love of the poor little clown's life. Joker's eyes practically sparkled as he looked at Batman, feeling his stomach flutter with happiness.
"Sorry I'm late. I... Bruce Wayne forgot what time you'd said. He couldn't remember whether you said 6:30 or 7:00. By the time he remembered, it was already 6:45. I hope that I didn't leave you waiting," Batman apologized to the clown.
"I'm just glad Bruce remembered in time. I was just starting to leave," Joker replied, his usual smile returning to his face. The two stood there grinning at each other like fools for a couple minutes, at least.
"So, Bruce said that there was something that you wanted to talk about," Batman said, snapping back to the matter at hand.
"Oh, it's actually pretty silly, now that I think about it," Joker responded, embarrassed.
"Please, this is coming from you. Everything you do is silly. Go on, tell me."
"Well... there are a few things that I wanted to talk about, not just one."
"Like what?"
"Like what happened the day that we were falling through the air. Did you really mean what you said, or was it just in the heat of the moment?" Joker asked the hero. Batman's smug look melted, replaced with one that was serious. He put his hands on the villain's arms, pulling him closer.
"Joker, ever since the night that we went our 'date' I can't look at you the same way. You made me feel so... I don't know how to really explain it. It was like you were the same silly person I knew, yet you had changed. I was so heartbroken when you trapped me, because I had gotten used to the new you, the new Joker that sent cute texts or gave compliments, yet still had the same funny attitude that I grew to love. Joker, I do love you, and I don't think I'll stop loving you anytime soon," Batman said to the Joker.
Joker's cheeks became pink, and he didn't try to hide it. What Batman had just said was one of the nicest things anyone had ever told him. Batman had just summed up exactly how he felt. He wasn't sure how he would answer that, because really, how could you answer something like that? Still, he couldn't just stand there in stunned silence. He would have to come up with something else to say.
"I'm glad that I didn't die that day, because you just made me happier than I've ever been before," Joker replied. The two returned to happily looking at each other.
"You said that there was something else that you wanted to talk about. What is it?" Batman asked, pulling both of them back to reality.
"Oh, will you go out with me?" Joker asked quickly, remembering the reason he came here in the first place.
"You said that pretty fast, what did you say?" Batman asked.
"I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me on a proper date. You know, one where you don't put me in the Asylum?" Joker repeated, adding some sass.
"Yeesh, I just asked you to repeat your question, you didn't have to bring up that whole experience again," Batman replied, smirking.
"I was ready to kiss you, though. Honestly, I was kind of excited," Joker said, shrugging one of his shoulders.
"Oh really?" Batman said, raising one of his eyebrows.
"Well yeah. The setting was right, the lighting was right, you were definitely right... it would have been the perfect first kiss..." Joker said, lowering his head as he finished the sentence.
"I agree with you. If you wanted to kiss some other time though, I'd be willing."
"Oh Batsy, you're such a flirt!"
"I'm not Gotham's most eligible bachelor for nothing."
"I thought that was Bruce Wayne."
"He wishes that he could be half the player I was."
"Oh, then I must've chosen the wrong person to fall for."
"Shoot, that's not what I meant. I was just trying to be cool, I swear!" Batman revised, nervously trying to fix what he had said. Joker just laughed at the vigilante. Sometimes, he was too cute to handle.
"Well, would Gotham's most eligible bachelor be willing to date little ol' me?" Joker asked, blinking repeatedly to give off the impression of innocence.
"Actually, I think he'd be very willing."
"Good, so how about dinner and a movie next Saturday?"
"I believe I'm free then."
"I'll make sure that no other villains are planning any schemes for then!"
"And I'll make sure that Robin has a good babysitter."
"Can't you just ask Bruce or his butler?"
"I guess that would save me $20."
"Right, and you could be giving that to a random villain on their way to Home Depot."
"Speaking of which, you owe me one."
"Owe you one what?"
"Well, I shot you in the back, but made up for it by breaking you out. Then, you kidnapped me, but made up for it by saving my life. That means that you owe me a favor of some sort for giving you $45."
"Hey, I thought I made up for it by giving you a kiss on the cheek!"
"Please, Robin gives me one every day."
"He's your son, that doesn't count."
"Since when?"
"I meant the kiss on the cheek to be romantic!"
"Well, you got me there."
"Why are you giving up on this argument so soon?"
After Joker said that, Batman gave the clown a peck on the cheek. Joker froze, his cheeks becoming the color of a tomato. Batman chuckled at how the villain reacted to the gesture. He was just freaking adorable sometimes.
"Now you owe me two favors."
With that, Batman used his grappling gun to shoot off to a nearby building. Joker continued to stand still, trying to rationalize what had just happened. Batman really was a flirting master. The Joker decided to call Harley to tell her what had happened. After three rings, the lady finally answered.
"Hey Boo, how'd it go with B-man?" she asked.
"Amazing!"
