Batman listened to the Joker's instructions very carefully, trying hard not to pass the speed limit. The hero made sure that he wasn't being led to an abandoned warehouse where he would be repeatedly beaten. Then again, if Joker had gone this long through the night without attacking Batman, then there was a good chance that the clown really did just want to be in a nice relationship. After all, who wouldn't want to go on a date with the most handsome superhero of all time? He was surprised that Joker hadn't fallen in love with him sooner.
Joker was thinking the same thing. Batman looked very similar to how he usually did, and yet he looked better than he had before. Heck, he was arguably better looking than he had been on the first date. On this date, he was wearing more of a classic look than a big-money type. Joker just found old fashioned outfits more attractive. The hero's outfit choice made it hard for the bad guy not to break out into a total fanboy state.
Finally, Joker informed Batman that he had reached the surprise destination. Batman didn't know if he should've been flattered or concerned. The destination was a karaoke bar. While Batman liked to sing a lot, he was only comfortable with singing his own songs. Unless the song contained lyrics about dead parents, total darkness, and a rap verse about how great he was, it wasn't a song that Batman would be able to sing very well.
Joker's face fell a bit at his date's reaction. He had expected a star struck look with possible thank you's and kisses on the cheek. However, his kind act was greeted with a semi-confused daze. The clown sighed and turned around to the car, expecting them to go find somewhere else to eat with Batman not being able to trust the villain's ability to choose dating spots. Instead, Batman grabbed Joker's arm and pulled the two towards each other.
"Where are you going? I want to hear you sing," Batman told the Joker. Joker's face lit up again as the two walked into the bar.
There were tables on the other side of the room from the bar, so the two sat down and ordered their meals. Both of them were pretty nervous at the moment, so they weren't very hungry. Batman ordered a hamburger while Joker just ordered a slice of apple pie. The couple sat in silence, chewing their food. They happened to be the best dressed people there, but since everyone else was either there with their family or just drunk, that wasn't saying much. After a couple bites of their respective meals, the daters sat at the table in awkward silence.
"What are you planning on singing, Batsy? Do you have a go-to karaoke song?" Joker asked, breaking the quiet.
"Not really. I like a lot of music, don't get me wrong, I'm just not the most confident singer," Batman answered, rubbing his arm.
"Well, I was planning on singing something by Taylor Swift," Joker replied. Batman almost choked on a piece of burger.
"You like Taylor Swift?" Batman asked, raising his eyebrow.
"Well, yeah. Do you not like her?" Joker asked in response, sinking into his seat.
"I do, I just didn't think that you would be the type of person who did."
"Really? Why not?"
"I just thought you listened to My Chemical Romance or Panic! at the Disco or something. You know, rebellious gothic type stuff."
"Please, if anything you're the one who listens to twenty-one pilots when no one's around."
"You're practically a goth kid, Joker."
"You're just an angsty teen!"
"What? No I'm not! You're the goth!"
"No, you're the goth!"
While the two were arguing, their waitress walked by their table. She fought the urge to walk away and deal with the issue later. She wasn't great at dealing with angry couples, after all. Still, she didn't want her boss to scold her again. So, she cleared her throat and asked her question.
"Hello, gentlemen. Do you want me to package your meal for you?" The waitress asked.
"Actually, we were going to do a karaoke song before we left," Batman informed the woman.
"WE ARE GOING TO SING LOVE STORY BY TAYLOR SWIFT AND YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE IT!" Joker yelled to his date, slamming his hand on the table. The waitress was a little weirded out, but she went and set up the song on the karaoke machine anyway.
"We were both young when I first saw you," Joker started singing, calming down from their argument earlier.
"I close my eyes and the flashbacks start," Batman continued, singing his best for Joker's sake.
They were singing pretty well until the chorus. At that point, Joker was really getting into the song, and his energy was infective, apparently, because Batman started to become pumped up as well. The rest of the people in the bar stared in stunned silence. About a month ago the two were fighting in the middle of Gotham, and now they were jamming to the cheesiest love song ever.
"MARRY ME, JULIET!" Batman and Joker both sang at the top of their lungs. The waitress was starting to severely regret putting on the song. At least this was better than having to watch them argue about goths.
When the song ended, Joker and Batman paid for their meals, got the rest of it boxed up, and left. Both of them couldn't go a minute before giggling nonstop over what they had just done. To think that they hadn't thought of doing this sooner. It was more fun than the two had experienced for a long time. Batman started to walk to the car, but before he could open the door, Joker grabbed him by the waist and spun him around.
"We aren't going home in a car, babe," Joker told the confused Batman.
"Uh, then what are we going in?" Batman asked, looking around to make sure that he wouldn't be ambushed.
"There's a motorcycle rental place a couple of blocks from here. Trust me, you have not lived until you've driven around Gotham City in a motorcycle."
"Please, I've driven in a motorcycle, J-Bird. Also, don't you think it's a bit soon to call me babe?"
"Oh, trust me babe, you haven't ridden through Gotham City in the right way."
"There's a right way to riding through a city?" Batman asked skeptically.
Apparently, there was. Joker had rented them a motorcycle for two people, and they were off. At first, Batman had to cling to Joker's chest for dear life, but soon, he found himself looking at all of the lights and buildings. He had ridden through Gotham a million times, yet tonight, it felt like the first time. He never really had appreciated the city for all of its beauty. Joker grinned, knowing that Batman would be having the time of his life. He just wished that he could see the dark knight's face.
Joker arrived at Wayne Manor, anticipating what Batman's part of the date would be. Surprisingly, Batman actually wanted to spend the last part of his date at Wayne Manor (not like the way you're thinking, though). Batman actually brought Joker into his theater so that the two could watch a movie together. The host was generous enough to let Joker choose the movie. Joker responded with "anything but Suicide Squad." So, the two ended up watching Sleepless in Seattle. Even though Batman had seen more times then he could count, he enjoyed watching it with his date.
When the movie was done, the two held hands and walked out of the theater. They walked to the backyard, which happened to overlook a fairly large body of water. With the lights of Gotham shining on the water, it made for the perfect view. Joker took in the view, while Batman found a strategic way to wrap his arm around the Joker. The clown noticed and nuzzled into the hero. Batman wondered if now was the time to show off his surprise, but he figured that he should wait a little bit longer.
"Batman, have I mentioned how much I love you?" Joker asked.
"Probably, but I wouldn't mind if you told me again," Batman responded.
"Well, let's just say that I love you more than, say, you love the color black."
"I know I should be offended, but that's actually very thoughtful of you."
"I knew that you would like the compliment."
"Honestly, I like everything about you."
"Even my friends?"
"Correction: I like almost everything about you."
"If it makes you feel better, I don't think they like you either."
"I didn't expect anything otherwise."
"I do know that they support us being together, if you're afraid of that. It's not like they'll attack us any minute or anything."
"Great, that takes a lot off my chest."
"They did bring up one point, though. If we decide to become official boyfriends, then will you become a bad guy, or will I become a good guy?"
"Joker, I can't think of a life where you don't cause chaos and I don't fix it. If it's alright with you, could we date and do our usual thing? If you want to do one or the other, I could learn to live with it."
"No! Batsy, I feel the same way! It's so fun to fight you, but it's also really fun to date you. I also want to do both."
Batman grinned. To celebrate the decision, he picked up the Joker and spun him around. Joker was surprised at first, but then laughed as he was spun in circles. This went on for a minute before Batman put Joker down. Then, the two stared at each other for a few moments. With the setting, the timing, the lighting, the occasion, and the attitude of a perfect first kiss ready, all they had to do was finally do it. Batman decided to be the one to lead. He pressed his hand against the clown's cheek, who gladly pressed back. They both leaned in, quietly and slowly for extra effect. Right when they were about to finally kiss, Batman fell to the floor.
There was a vine wrapped around his leg, yet he swore that there hadn't been a couple of seconds ago. He tried to pull it off, but it just grew tighter. Joker leaned over to help his crush, but he was shocked from behind with a tazor, which happened to have the GCPD logo on it. Batman sat there and watched the man he loved fall over in an unconscious state.
"Who are you? Show yourself!" Batman yelled at whoever had just caused the sudden attack. Two female figures approached Batman before shoving his face into the dirt.

Author's Note:
I would very much appreciate it if you didn't send me death threats for the cliff hanger! I will get the next chapter up as soon as I can, so just keep in mind that you won't have to wait longer than a week. It's actually Easter weekend though, so it might be just a little bit late. Still, I'll use my next free time! Keep in mind that I'm simply trying to build suspense.
