Joker returned to his lair with an enormous grin on his face. This had been the first time in a long time that he had actually won! He hadn't even been brought to jail. The question was why hadn't he? Batman and Robin were right there and Batsy had even gotten a hold on him. It should've gone like it always did, yet something had happened. Harley walked over to him while he was thinking about what occurred earlier.
"Hey there, J-man! Woah, you got away with all that cash? The Bats must've been taking the night off," Harley noticed.
"That's the amazing thing! Batman was there and he even got a hold on me, but I still escaped! I don't know how it happened," Joker explained.
"Ooh, I think I know," Harley replied, smirking.
"Oh, and why is that?" Joker asked
"Maybe all of this talk about you two being together has gone to his head, if you know what I mean," Harley replied.
"That would be great! Then it would be even easier to portray a couple!" Joker excitedly returned.
"Please, at that point you two would actually be dating," Harley replied.
Joker slightly punched his bestie in the arm. He denied that it would happen, but the idea was pretty tempting. I mean, Batman, the man who only let about three people into his heart, and this had been after years and years, having a crush on him? That would be fabulous! That didn't mean that he had a crush on him necessarily. Yeah, that would be crazy. He wondered what Batsy was doing at the moment.
.....
Batman was still getting an earful from Barbara, even though his meeting with the Joker went down about 15 minutes ago. She was convinced that Batman had just let him go because he had a crush on him. He had explained that he had stepped on Joker's foot to stop him, but Barbara still wasn't sure. After all, it had been all over the news that the two of them were going out, and it wasn't exactly clear whether it was a lie. Batman just wanted to go home and forget that this night had ever happened, but it was kind of hard with the entire police force shoving this experience down his throat. He figured that his lobster thermador was getting cold at his desk. His milk was probably getting warm too. Robin didn't look like he really had anything to do, but he tried to keep himself occupied.
"Do you realize that because of your little date with the Joker, you just let one of the worst criminals loose in the city!" Barbara yelled. That gave Robin an idea.
"That's it! We'll catch the Joker with a date!" Robin said. Everyone turned to him with raised eyebrows.
"I'm sorry, what?" Batman asked his son.
"Think about it, the Joker has been pretending that the two of you are dating, so what if you actually did date him?" Robin suggested.
"Robin, no," Barbara told the boy, rolling her eyes.
"Actually, it's not a bad idea," Batman replied, taking out his good idea counter and adding one, bringing the 'Other' total up to 3 (Robin had suggested that they go to Comic-Con, which had been the second one.)
Robin smiled at the nice gesture from his father. Barbara stared in surprise at the celebration of such a crazy idea. Batman wondered how he was going to pull off the idea. It was going to be harder than just tweeting it at him. He had to do it in a way that no one would see coming. It would have to be in a way that screamed Batman, which should be easy for him to come up with. Fortunately, he did in no time! He said goodbye to the cops, grabbed Robin, and drove home.
.....
Joker woke up pretty early the next morning. He wasn't sure why, but when he heard loud noises in the hallway, he understood. It was the sound of roller skates against the ground, loud conversations, and the coffee machine. Joker was confused as to why all of this was going on at 7:30 in the morning. So, he slowly got out of bed and put on his robe. When he walked outside of his room, he was greeted by Harley and Ivy arguing with a rather large volume. They didn't seem to notice that he had left his room, so he made himself clear by tapping on Harley's shoulder. She quickly turned her head to see who had done it. Both of the girls were still wearing their pajamas, which meant that they must've had a slumber party last night. He still wasn't exactly sure why they were arguing, but it seemed to be what was going on on the TV. It wasn't like he could hear any of it though, because the girls were still complaining. Joker decided to ask his girl buddy.
"The two of us were just wondering whether you and the B-man make a good couple or not," Harley explained.
"It's all a ruse, remember? We're not even really dating!" Joker responded.
"That's what I said, but apparently Batman doesn't feel the same way," Ivy replied, pointing to the TV.
On the TV, no surprise, was Batman. He had been reported on for a few days now, but it looked different now. This time, it was actually him saying it instead of a reporter just talking about him. He looked like he was saying something important, so the Joker listened intently. He also got some coffee just to wake him up.
"Hey everyone, I'm Batman, but heck you already know that. I'm here to give an open message to my (clears throat) 'boyfriend.' We just came out as a couple about a week ago, so we haven't had a chance to publicly go on a date. I want to change this. So, what I'm trying to say is... Joker, will you go on a date with me?" Batman asked on the TV.
The Joker spat out his coffee. What the heck was he even asking? He had totally been turned off with the idea before, so what was the change in attitude? Still, the idea of going on a date with Batman of all people didn't sound half bad. Not only that, but it would go great with the plan. Honestly, it didn't look like there were any downsides to dating Batman. So, he went into his hometown, Twitter, to respond to the question.
OMG Batsy, of course I'll go out with you! Can't wait!
"Honestly, those two don't even really like each other!" Ivy told her friend.
"I seriously doubt that," Harley replied, looking over at the Joker's love-struck face.
