Batman sat down in front of his ginormous computer screen, searching up a list of the most epic break-ups on one side of the computer and skyping Barbara on the other. Barbara was saying that they should actually try to stop Joker in a strategical way, but Batman tried to explain they should break his heart in a way that was like a couple because that was how they were being perceived. During this intense conversation, Richard Grayson walked into the room to see what was happening. He was holding a glass of milk, which he had planned to drink himself, but he figured that his dad needed it more. It was that or coffee, and he really didn't know who to make that. He walked over to his father, who didn't realize he was there. Batman finally noticed when Richard gave him a tap on the shoulder. When he recognized who was there he closed his tabs, including a very annoyed Barbara.
"Hey Dick, what's up?" Bruce asked his son.
"I just wanted to see if you were okay, you haven't left this room in a while," Richard explained.
"Yeah, I'm good. I guess I should've left the room a little while ago. There's just a lot on my mind," Bruce told the boy.
"Were you talking to someone? Someone that you have been... say... seeing recently?" Richard asked, twiddling with his fingers.
"If you're asking about the Joker, then the answer is no. I was actually talking with Babs," Bruce responded, raising his eyebrow.
"I'm just saying, if you did have feelings for the Joker, I wouldn't judge," Richard said, shrugging one shoulder.
"I appreciate the kindness, but I doubt that that will be happening in the future," Bruce replied, messing with his son's hair.
A call sounded on Bruce's phone. It was the commissioner, so he wasn't sure whether he should answer as Bruce or Batman. Considering their last talk, he answered as the dark knight. He gave his voice the familiar dark tone that he had stopped talking with when he was talking to his son. This happened to be the right option because it was a message about crime occurring. The person causing the crime surprised him.
"What do you mean the Joker's the one robbing the bank? I thought he would be too busy talking to a reporter or sending a weird love letter to me," Batman responded.
"The police are already on their way, but he's still pretty close to you. How fast can you get there?" Barbara asked.
"About 3 minutes in the Batmobile," Batman replied, checking his GPS.
With that, he and Robin were already in the Batmobile. They drove as fast as they possibly could to the area he was last seen. About a block away a patch of green hair was visible on the rooftops. They parked at the nearest curb and jumped out of the car. They agreed that Robin would run three buildings ahead while Batman would run after him head first. Batman climbed up the nearest fire escape and reached the rooftops in no time. He started to run after his enemy, who looked over at Batman and grinned.
"I had a feeling that you would show up, Batsy!" Joker yelled over, readjusting the money bag under his arm.
"I have a feeling that you're taking a trip to jail tonight!" Batman yelled back.
The Joker cackled and continued running. His eyes were so focused on the next rooftop that he would run to that he didn't notice the small pebble in his path. Even though it was small, it completely through him off balance. He fumbled on his feet and started to fall. Batman started to panic. Luckily, he had amazing reflexes, so he ran over the Joker in about one second. Just before he fell over, Batman caught him in his arms. It caught the Joker off guard, yet he didn't feel like leaving the embrace of his enemy. They both stared into each other's eyes, not realizing how beautiful they were. The bright tint of green in Joker's eyes stood out, while Batman's dark eyes were hidden behind his mask. This made them hard to see, but the Joker eventually found them after squinting to see them. They were so astonishingly brilliant that Joker felt his cheeks begin to rise in temperature.
Batman noticed that the Joker's cheeks were turning to pink. He was pretty sure that it was because of the sudden warmth that fell through the air. After all, they were standing pretty close together. They stayed in that position for a long time, probably longer than they should have. After a while, Robin ran over to see what was wrong. When he saw what was going on, he wasn't sure if he was embarrassed or incredibly excited. Batman saw that his son had popped in on their encounter, so he dropped the Joker on the ground. His face went red with guilt as he realized what had just happened. He stepped on the Joker's hand to keep him from getting away. Unfortunately, the Joker grabbed his money bag with his other hand and hit Batman in the gut. The sudden distraction was enough for Joker to get away, even though Robin tried to stop him. Just as Joker got away, the police sirens sounded in the distance.
"Batman! Why did you let the Joker get away when you already had him cornered?" Barbara asked. She saw the look on Batman's face though, and it was pretty clear exactly why he did it.
"I-It's not what you think Babs," Batman defended himself.
"Actually, it exactly what you think," Robin added, smiling from ear to ear.
