Harley and Robin stared in horror at the display in front of them. Both of them genuinely thought that the girls saw how adorable the couple was, but it seemed as though nothing had changed. In fact, now they were resorting to violence just to show their opinions. Couldn't they just let a good thing be a good thing? At this point, it just seemed cruel. Robin and Harley had to do something to stop it. So, the two besties of the couple devised a plan on how to stop the attack.

"Okay, I'll use my pocket knife to cut the vine around Dad's ankle and wake up Joker while you keep Barbara and Ivy occupied, got it?" Robin ordered, determined to save his father and his boyfriend.

"Aye aye, Robbie!" Harley saluted, bouncing out of the bushes with Robin.

Like they had agreed, Robin ran to his father and quickly cut the vine around his ankle. During that, Harley skated to Ivy and knocked her over. Robin then tried to wake up the Joker while Harley grabbed Batman's feet and swung the hero into Barbara's chest, knocking her over as well. Robin couldn't seem to wake Joker up by shaking him, so he took the extreme measure of slapping the clown in the face. It was a little bit harder than he expected, but he certainly woke Joker up.

"What was that for, kid?" Joker asked, rubbing his cheek.

"You weren't waking up any other way!" Robin said protectively.

"What are you doing, Robin? Don't you want to stop the crime in Gotham?" Barbara asked Robin, still clutching her side.

"Joker wasn't doing anything to harm you, yet you attacked him and my father. I would much rather protect an innocent villain than a guilty hero," Robin said, anger in his eyes.

Barbara lunged at the Joker, but when she was about to strike him, Batman ran in front of her and punched her in the face. Barbara gawked at the fact that two of her friends had now gone against her. She was simply trying to do her job by keeping Gotham free of crime, why couldn't these two see it? Ivy wasn't doing to hot either. She had gotten up from the ground, only to be pushed down again by Harley, who was now accompanied by the Joker. Ivy didn't want to fight them, seeing as how one of them was her boss and the other was her crush, but the other two sure looked like they wanted to beat her up.

"After everything we've been through, you were seriously about to hand me in to the police just like that?" Joker asked, a grimace showing on his face.

"I was trying to stop you and Batman from going out! Don't you see that becoming a couple will only hurt you in the future?" Ivy asked back, flabbergasted.

"The only thing that I see is a traitor," Joker responded, stretching his neck. Harley looked like she agreed with the Joker, which made Ivy even more disappointed. If anything happened to Joker, Harley would be heartbroken, and Ivy wouldn't be able to live with herself. Then again, could she live with herself knowing that Harley wanted her head on a silver platter?

"I don't want to hurt you guys," Ivy said to her friends.

"You should've thought about that before going after an innocent couple," Harley replied, pulling out her hammer.

Since Joker and Batman were protecting each other, and Harley and Robin were protecting their best friend/father, Barbara and Ivy found themselves fighting their friends. They were only trying to do what was best, yet they found themselves becoming the wrong-doer. Barbara didn't want to be considered a villain, and Ivy didn't want to hurt her friends. Yet, it seemed like they already had. There didn't seem like anything could stop it by now.

.....

Batman felt a little bit hesitant about fighting his friend, but he was willing to do anything to protect Joker. It might've been odd to save the villain and attack the police commissioner, Joker really hadn't done anything to deserve this. Besides, Batman wanted Joker to stay in safety so the two could be together. He loved the Joker, and he didn't want to watch his friend hurt him without doing anything about it. So, he threw a batarang at her sleeve, which attached to a tree branch. Barbara tore off some of her sleeve and ran towards Robin and Batman to get back at them. Before she could, Robin kicked her in the stomach. She stumbled back, but came back by shoving her shoulder into the boy's arm. Robin fell over, which enraged Batman. He punched Barbara in the nose, who punched back, even though she know had a nose bleed.

"We don't have to fight!" Barbara yelled at Batman.

"You didn't have to attack Joker!" Batman yelled back.

"I was doing what was best in the name of the law!"

"I was having a great night! I guess our original plans were both ruined, then."

"Are you seriously saying that you would rather have some arm candy then prevent crime in Gotham City?"

"Joker wasn't doing anything that was against the law!"

            "He has in the past!"

"I've done illegal things in the past! Look, if Joker ever attacks me on a date or whatever, then I'd be able to take him. Until then, just stick to your normal job."

         "Why don't you?"

"Because if the only other option of people to hang out with is a stick in the mud who cares more about her work than the people around her, than I'd rather date a clown who can make me laugh and gives a crap about how I feel."

Batman's words hit Barbara like a ton of bricks. She wanted to argue that this wasn't true and that Batman was the unreasonable one, but everything that Batman was saying was true. Instead of hanging in a peaceful beach house with her loving father, she had spent the night ruining someone's date, bruising her ribs, earning a bloody nose, and tearing her favorite shirt. The thought of that made her feel awful. Still, she had a nagging question on her mind.

"Why are you even going out with Joker?" she asked.

"We both love and deeply care about each other. Why can't you see that?"

Batman walked away from the injured woman to assist Joker on his attack of Ivy. Robin looked at Barbara sympathetically. What she had done was wrong, but he knew that she felt like it was her duty to do so. All that she needed was someone to talk to, but she seemed to be pushing those people away. Robin walked up to the wounded woman and rubbed her back. She started to tear up at the gesture, and she pulled Robin into a hug. She had realized that what she had done was wrong, and that she had been so small-minded about the situation. Robin hugged Barbara back, letting her tears fall onto his back.

           "I'm so sorry," Barbara apologized.

           "I believe you," Robin replied.

Author's Note:

Sorry for anyone who wanted a hardcore Harlivy or Batjokes chapter, the next chapter will probably be more ship catering. I know that I've been pretty brutal when it comes to Barbara's character in this story, so I wanted to have a redeeming chapter. I really hope that you liked this chapter!
