Robin and Batman jumped into the Batmobile and headed over to the villain's lair. Alfred decided to stay behind and make sure that nothing else was taken. Robin suggested that his father should cut through the traffic to get there faster, and Batman said that this wasn't a very serious situation, so there wasn't a need for it. They ended up getting there in about 15 minutes. When they knocked on the door, Polka Dot Man answered, a scared look on his face.

"H-hello there. Are you here to see Joker?" the villain asked Batman.

"We're here to get back the food that you guys stole!" Robin said excitedly.

"I'm not sure what you mean. I know that Poison Ivy went out to get some food last night, but I assumed it was at the grocery store or somewhere," Polka Dot Man replied, still looking nervous.

"So if Ivy stole the food, that means that Joker and the gift baskets were just distractions," Batman rationalized.

"Can we search through the kitchen?" Robin asked the scared criminal.

"Are you going to take any of us to the Asylum?" Polka Dot Man asked in return.

"Only if you get in our way," Batman responded. Polka Dot Man panicked and quickly walked away from the door. Batman tried to remember how he got to the kitchen the night before, and he eventually navigated it. Since Robin had never been here for dates at all, this place was new to him. While it was very small compared to Wayne Manor, he would rather live here than the orphanage. When the heroes found where their food was, a lot of it was already gone.

"Hey, babe! Couldn't get enough, could you?" Joker asked, hiding a twinkie behind his back. Five other villains swallowed the food that was currently in their mouths.

"So I let you into my home, and this is how you repay me?" Batman asked, becoming angry.

"Look, we're criminals. What else did you expect? Besides, we gave your son a gift basket," Joker told his boyfriend.

"You stole almost $300 worth of food. A bird figurine isn't going to fix that," Robin said to Joker, taking his father's side.

"I expect all of my food back, and for the food that you've eaten, I want them paid off," Batman betted Joker.

"Come on! I've stolen stuff 10 times worse than that. What about that time before you asked me on a date that I robbed the bank and you let me go because we gazed into each other's eyes? I stole a whole bunch of cash and you never broke into my home to scold me for that," Joker defended himself.

"You're right. Either you can give me the cash that you stole and a box of cereal or I can arrest you for robbery," Batman said to Joker in a way that implied that he wasn't offering any other options.

"Nice one, J," Harley whispered into Joker's ear, sarcasm filling every word.

"B-but babe! I don't even know where the money is anymore! Heck, I might've spent some of it on that bracelet I gave you!" Joker chattered.

"I guess that means that Robin and I will have to search around for the money, then," Batman stated.

"Isn't Bruce Wayne a billionaire or something, why can't he pay for it?"

"As a hero, I'm sworn to protect my family from crime, no matter what the size of the crime is."

"Maybe you should've thought about that before agreeing to date a criminal."

"Maybe I should've!" Batman snapped. Joker's face turned from anger to hurt after Batman said it. Harley got closer to Joker and wrapped her arm around him for comfort. Joker didn't press back, for he hadn't looked away from his boyfriend. Tears started to build up in his eyes. Robin bit his lip as he looked at the sad clown. It seemed as though another one of his ideas had gone miserably. He was better off as the sidekick.

"Do you think we should leave?" Robin whispered to his father.

"No, not until we get that money back," Batman said to his son, choking back an apology.

"It's under the sink in the bathroom," Joker told Batman, hugging his arms and looking towards the ground. Batman flipped his cape and walked towards the bathroom, Robin reluctantly following him. The dark knight grabbed the bag and quickly walked to the entrance, grabbing some Fruit Loops on the way out. Before Robin left with his father, he walked over to Joker and gave a long hug.

"He didn't mean it, I promise," Robin told the clown. Joker hugged back, mascara dripping onto Robin's shoulder. Robin would be sure to try that lipstick on when he got home. He waved goodbye after the hug and followed his father to the car. He looked over to Batman, a prominent frown placed upon his face.

"Did you really have to be so rude to Joker?" Robin asked.

"He stole from us, Robin. What else was I supposed to do?" Batman replied.

"Isn't stealing stuff part of his job?"

"Yeah, but he usually commits crimes that involve the city, not me."

"If this had happened before you two started dating, then you wouldn't have snapped at him like that."

"And couples are supposed to be there for each other, not steal from them!"

"Still, did that mean that you had to tell him that you two never should've dated?"

        "....No. I was just hurt."

"Well, you really hurt him too."

"I guess that means we're even."

Robin didn't think that logic was correct, but at that moment they arrived at the bank, where Batman was going to return the money. Batman slung the money over his shoulder like Santa Claus and walked into the bank. Robin stayed in the car and fidgeted in his seat. He received a text from Alfred asking where they were. Robin filled him in on what happened and their current location. Alfred sent back how he felt bad for Joker and Batman, as well as a frowny emoji. Robin sighed and put away his phone. What had he done to this relationship?

Author's Note:

I know I've already said this multiple times before, but I'm going to be very busy this week, so don't expect frequent updates. Other than that, have a nice day.
