7:00 finally arrived. Joker had escaped from his cell at exactly the same time that he promised Harley. When he got out, he felt a surge of freedom. Why hadn't he tried to escape earlier? He took a few long steps, appreciating how much space there was outside. Little did he know that he was walking into a trap. Literally, a snare caught him by the leg. It turned him upside down as he found himself hanging from a tree branch. Joker wondered who the heck would do this to him, just as Batman walked out of the shadows. The clown groaned.
"Of course you knew when I'd be escaping," Joker rhetorically said, rolling his eyes.
"I'm going to have to take you back to Arkham, you know," Batman told the Joker.
"Right, because you worked so hard to put me in there in the first place," Joker replied, annoyance filling him.
"I did! Do you know how expensive that chocolate cake was?" Batman almost yelled.
"Still, don't you care about our relationship? Am I really that disposable?"
"Joker, I hate you, I really do. It's just that ever since you posted that message on Twitter, something's changed between us. I guess that I figured that throwing you into the Asylum could bring things back to normal, with both of us seeing each other as enemies," Batman explained, rubbing his neck.
Joker felt his cheeks turn that familiar shade of pink. That might've been the blood rushing to his head, though. He gestured to the trap that was still holding him. Batman noticed, and he set the Joker loose. When Joker fell, instead of hitting the ground, he landed right in Batman's arms. He tried to struggle free, but Batman wasn't letting go. Joker was wondering what was going on.
"What are you doing, Bats?" Joker asked, still squirming.
"I'm not just going to let you run free. I could tie you to that tree if you want," Batman offered.
"Nah, I'll just stay like this," Joker responded, stopping his struggling.
Admittedly, it was kind of weird sitting princess-style in the arms of your greatest enemy. It was comfier than hanging upside down or being tied to a tree, though. The two of them didn't say anything for a while. After a long time, Joker cleared his throat. Batman looked back down at the bad guy in his arms.
"Why haven't you, you know, taken me back to Arkham yet?" Joker asked.
"There's one more thing that I'd like to talk about," Batman replied.
"Okay, shoot."
"S-Sorr... Sorry," Batman forced out of his mouth. He still wasn't exactly used to saying the word yet.
"You better be sorry, those tranquilizer darts hurt!"
"I feel bad about stringing you along like that. Still, why were you about to kiss me?"
"You were being super romantic!"
"Yeah, I guess I kind of was."
