"Really?" Jazmin asked while getting up. "Out of all places." She walks passed running kids and looks around. "Where are you?" She calls for Omar, who's hiding in the play place.
"So, how long have you two known each other?" Jc tries to make conversation with Marley.
I remember the day I found Jazmin crying, because of Marley. I don't judge easily, but I thought he was a cool guy, until I saw her the way I did.
"Too long." He laughed and looked back at a struggling Jazmin trying to find Omar.
"Is she doing better?" I asked quietly, but enough for him and everyone else at the table to hear me.
He starred at me, more like he was trying to read me, than jut stare.. "Better how?" He asked making me realize I really did ask that question out loud.
"With everything?" I said, but quickly clarify it further. "I mean, from the past, she's doing better than she was before?" I only know her as the girl I met a few weeks ago. I was never there when eveything happened in the past. I wish I was though.
"Yeah." He nodded and looked back making sure she's far enough not to hear. He leaned forward and started playing with a ketch up packet. "She's never been better. Not since.." He stopped and starred at the floor.
"Not since when?" Connor asked. If he didn't ask, I would have.
"I can't even remember." He shook his head. "It was so long ago."
"Got him." She said out of breath, carrying Omar who as kicking, trying to make her let him down. "Next time you decided to bring him to McDonald's and let him play in this death place, leave me at home."
"I got him." Marley stood up and took Omar from her arms. "Go free." He released him and Omar went running back towards a tube.
"Really?" She slapped Marley's arm."It was so hard to catch him."
I laugh looking at her frustrated state. She looks so adorable trying to be intimidating towards Marley. She shoots me a quick glare before turning back to look at Marley.
"Oops. It was an accident." He smiles, knowing it'll only make her angrier.
It's nice to see Jazmin this way. She's always like this around us, and it's nice to know she's like this with other people too.
"Watch me accidentally hurt you on purpose." On accidentally he starts to run away towards the tube Omar wet into earlier. "Don't think I won't you." She follows him into the tube.
                              "Children." Ricky scoffs.
"Oh shut up Ricky." Everyone said and threw something at him.
                              "Well." Ricky exaggerated.
Jazmin's phone began to ring and I reached for it. I looked at the screen and it's an unknown number. I looked around for any sight of her.
"Are you going to answer it or not?" Kian said annoyed.
                              "Hello?" I answered.
"Hello?" A crying woman responded. "Is J-jazmin the-there?" She struggled to get the words out.
"Yes, may I ask who's calling?" I covered the speaker. "Jazmin!" I pressed the phone closer to my ear so I could hear her
"I-i'm the mother of h-her friend J-j-.." She broke down crying even more than before.
"What is it?" Jazmin walked up looking really tired.
"It's a mom of someone?" I said handing her the phone.
