This imagine idea is from TheElkMaiden :) Imagine coming down with a cold and the Company getting worried, thinking it's something serious. When they ask Gandalf for reassurance, he decides it's time for a little fun.
Sniffling and coughing, you trudged on with Thorin and Company. Your sleeve was feeling crusty from snot, and your throat was sore.
When you made camp that night, you set yourself apart from the others. You didn't want them getting sick too.
As you tried to write in your diary, you sensed eyes on you. You looked up to find a few dwarves looking at you with pity. Assuming they knew what colds were, you decided to reassure them.
"It's ok, I'm just a little sick." You called over. A few raised their eyebrows in question and Thorin whistled commandingly.
You scrunched your eyebrows in confusion as Gloin nodded and walked over to you.
"Yes?" you asked incredulously.
He sat down beside you, looking you in the eyes.
"How are you feeling, lass?"
You smiled sarcastically. "Oh I'm just dandy, thanks for asking Gloin."
He looked at you, his eyebrows raised in question.
You rolled your eyes.
"If you must know, I feel as if death is upon my doorstep. I am miserable. Happy?"
He looked alarmed and yelled for Gandalf making you sigh.
"What is it, Master Dwarf?" he asked tiredly.
Before he could answer you jumped in. "He thinks I am dying. Assure him I am not, please."
Gandalf took one look at you, one at the nervous Dwarves around you and a mischievous look sparkled in his eyes. He winked at you and you knew you were done for.
He affected a serious demeanor and spoke gravely.
"I am not sure I can tell you that. You are in dire condition. I would not give it long."
You groaned and put your head in your hands as a few Dwarves cried out in dismay.
In all the commotion you heard Gandalf snicker quietly.
"You and I both know it's just a cold, Gandalf. You'll pay for this prank!"
He winked again before replying. "Why dear girl! I do not know what you mean."
He stood and addressed the small crowd.
"Now, Master Dwarves, it is best you give her air while she has it. Make her comfortable for now until the fighting comes," he paused, looking to a certain Dwarf, "And soon maybe the time to clear any misgivings or unspoken sincerities."
After mutters of agreement, everyone drifted away, throwing you looks of pity making you groan and roll your eyes.
Not ten minutes later Fili and Kili came over to you and knelt on either side.
"We're sorry we ever pranked you (Y/N/H)!" Kili apologized.
"And pulled your braids," Fili muttered.
