This is for MarvelFreak21  :) enjoy! They requested their name, but it would be easy to put yourself in their place. (It's Legolas, come on.)

Today, was the day.

And boy was Sophie excited.

Finally, after years and years of asking, King Thranduil was going to let her go on a solo hunt in Mirkwood. Tracking down and killing nasty spiders of course.

She was mostly excited, though, because her life-long nemesis wasn't going to be there. He always undermined her plans and made her look stupid in front of the others. All her life she'd been stuck beside him, forced to look on as he received all the praise and credit for work they both shared in.

But not any longer.

There was a skip in her step and a smile on her face as she strode into the throne room that morning, ready to venture out on a moments notice.

When she entered the King was sitting on the throne, staring dramatically off into the distance as usual.

She bowed and caught his attention.

"Good morning, my lord. I trust you are in good health," she said politely, trying to contain her enthusiasm.

He smiled uncharacteristically. "Good morning, Sophie. And I am, thank you for your kind concern. Now, are you ready for your assignment?"

She nodded quickly, eager to get on with the day. "Yes, I always have been."

He chuckled, remembering how he had been when he was younger.

"Alright then. Spiders have been getting close to our home. Too close. Today you both will hunt down and kill as many as you possibly can."

All at once her heart sank.

"Both? What do you mean by both?"

He grinned devilishly and gestured to the side of his throne.

Out from the shadow he walked, his irritatingly perfect blonde hair swishing as he came. It was her enemy of old.

Legolas.

She gave him a quick glare and turned her gaze back to Thranduil.

"My lord, what is the meaning of this?" she almost hissed, "I thought this was to be my first solo mission."

Legolas stepped further into the room. "Yes Father, what is the meaning of sending me with her besides the fact that she can't do anything right by herself?"

Thranduil turned to glare at his son. "The meaning of this, is that there are simply too many threats for any of us to go out alone. Now you two are my best hunters, and if you want to gain favor in my sight you'll do as I say. Now, march and get to work."

"But, but my lor-" she attempted to protest, but was cut off by his icy glare and a long finger pointed towards the door.

She huffed and straightened herself out, turning and marching out the door. Legolas, unfortunately, wasn't far behind her. Since they both had their weapons they quickly left the palace and started off into the woods. In angry smoldering silence.

It wasn't until they were far into the woods that Legolas spoke. They both took out their bows and prepped an arrow.

"Now, if you follow my lead we shouldn't be too bad off," he whispered.

She snorted and rolled her eyes.

"If I did that, we'd both be dead in a blink."

He rolled his eyes and sighed.
