Chapter 19 (The dinner)

As I laid in my bed starring up at the ceiling I couldn't stop thinking about Eric. I could still feel his fingers rubbing against my clit and it was making me hot again. I'm not too sure how long I've been laying here thinking. Mostly everyone was still asleep, taking advantage of our full day off we had before we start this Dauntless cooperative learning thing tomorrow. In a way I was thankful I was going to be with Four and not Eric. I know I wouldn't be able to control myself around him anymore. To make things worse I have to see Jeanine today. I thought my life would be so much better coming to Dauntless.

I thought wrong.

The clock on the wall read 7:25am. I can't sleep late anymore. I hopped out of bed and decided to go for a run around the compound to get my mind off of everything. A run usually makes me feel somewhat better. I ran through the pit, through tunnels and corridors I've never been in before, just to turn back. What else could Jeanine possible say to me? She clearly was pissed when I saw her the other night. After about an hour of running around aimlessly I made it back to the dorms to shower. Everyone was still asleep. Well not Amanda and Tyler.

"Can you find somewhere else to do that please?" I asked annoyed.

They both laughed.

"How about next time you join us?" Tyler said laughing.

Amanda slapped him "Asshole"

"Hey, relax. I'm joking" he flipped Amanda over and was now on top.

Disgusted, I walked quickly to the showers. I enjoyed staying under the water long, even though the it was cold. The cold water didn't help the impure thoughts I kept having of Eric. The ache between my legs just wouldn't subside, I wanted him just as bad as he wanted me.

After drying off I looked in the mirror to comb my wet hair and noticed a few new bruises on my neck and shoulders from last night. There's no way I can let anyone see this. I did my best to cover the them with concealer.  Starving, I grabbed Ulysses and went to get some breakfast.

When I got there I didn't see anyone I knew. Being a Sunday most people slept in late, so I got some pancakes and proceeded to read my book. Well into the first hundred pages or so a Dauntless member sat right in front of me. Not even bothering to look up, I continued to read my book, engulfed in it.

"Good morning"

I look up to see Ryker with a smile on his face.

"Umm good morning" I say hesitantly.

"I'm sorry, I didn't get a chance to introduce myself the other night. I'm Ryker, head of security here at Dauntless" he said reaching out his hand to me. Looking at it I take it, shaking it formally.

"I'm Kate, Dauntless initiate" I responded.

"Oh I know. Word gets around when we get a new beauty in the midst. Kate Sawyer, from Erudite" he said.

I smile nervously. What does he want?

"I've had the pleasure of meeting your father a few times. He's a very smart man"

"Yeah. Yeah, that he is" I say looking back down at my book.

"What are you reading there?" He says before taking a bite of his eggs.
