Chapter 26 (Fours Help)

I couldn't stop my body from shivering. What seemed like hours was only mere minutes as I sat on the rooftop. I can't believe I've gone that far with Eric. It was a mistake, a terrible mistake that can never happen again. He's working with Jeanine, the woman who wants to kill people like me.

Eric's the devil, and yet I'm a totally different person when I'm around him. I looked down at my watch and realized I'm late to meet Four. My body still felt very sensitive when I stood up. I could still feel Eric's mouth between my legs and I wanted more, how disgusting am I? I need to calm myself before seeing Four, he's going to see something isn't right with me. Rushing down the stairs I almost trip. Just what I need right now. I cross the pit and see Four standing with his arms folded near the elevator bank.

"Thought you weren't going to show" he said.

"Sorry, I fell asleep" I lied.

He looks at me suspiciously as he presses the button for the elevator. Within a few seconds the doors open.

"Come on" he instructs.

Once in the elevator it doesn't take us long to get to our destination.

"Where are we going?" I follow him slowly.

He leads me down the corridor to an apartment door.

"My apartment"

He opens the door and holds it opened for me. I walk in hesitantly.

"It's okay Kate" he assures me.

His apartment is different from Eric's. For starters it's a studio, just like Dyan's but it's bigger. He had windows all around with a balcony, like Eric. He didn't have much furniture, just a large bed up against the windows in the middle of the room, a couch, and a dining table in the kitchen area. He had all the same appliances as Eric too, such as a stove, microwave, and refrigerator. There were a door on the other side that I assumed was the bathroom.

"Kate, there's something that I need to speak to you about" he begins.

That's it, he knows. Maybe Four is the bad guy. Maybe he's been working with Eric all along, trying to lure out the divergent.

Before I could stop myself I opened my mouth "Are you going to kill me?" I yelled frantically.

The moment that I said it I wanted to smack myself. What's wrong with me? I'm smarter then this, or I used to be. I've been making lots of bad choices lately.

He looked surprised "I'm not going to kill you Kate. What gave you that impression?"

I shrugged, feeling stupid.

"You have been doing quite well here. I really hope to see you in one of the top spots so you can get a good position in Dauntless"

"Thanks Four, I'm trying" I say smiling awkwardly.

A sudden glare fell over Four's features "You are aware that there are cameras all over Dauntless?" Four asked

I nod my head. What is he getting at?

"I've seen you two, on more than one occasion" he said awkwardly.

My blood rushes to my head, I was starting to feel dizzy.

"You went to his apartment late last night and didn't leave until this morning. It's not hard to figure out what went on"

I sat there speechless, I didn't expect the conversation to go this way.
