Kate's POV

Mature Content. . .

The next morning I woke up extra early to go for a run. I quickly changed into my training gear and made my way outside. The fact that no one stopped me felt exhilarating.

The crisp morning air on my face was refreshing. I needed this. I needed to clear my mind, especially after meeting with Alaric and now getting Kylie involved. How could I put her in danger like that? I couldn't shake the sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that I made a huge mistake.

I ran through Abnegation and around the Dauntless computed twice. I was looking forward to starting my new life in Dauntless. One that didn't include Eric. I was so proud of myself for finally sticking up to him the other night. The scared little girl that I used to be was gone and I felt like a new woman.

I was also looking forward to meeting with Cherry after breakfast to get my new apartment. Mine, Caroline's, and Amanda's that is. I couldn't wait, we all had enough of the dorms. When I got back inside everyone was still sleeping. It was only 6:30am, what did I expect?  I took a quick shower and headed down to the dining hall. There were only a few people inside, no one that I knew. I sat at my usual table with a pile of pancakes and went to town.

Suddenly I felt a heavy body sit on the opposite side of me. Without looking up I knew who it was. I didn't give him the satisfaction of even acknowledging him.

"You left the compound last night" Eric stated and I could tell by his tone that he was angry.

"Was that a question?" I asked, looking up at him.

He didn't say anything. He didn't need to, the anger in his eyes said it all.

"How did you know?" I asked before taking another bite of my pancakes.

"I know everything"

"I'm sure you do" I rolled my eyes and sipped my coffee "Not that it's any of your business but yes, I left the compound. I'm Dauntless now, I don't need permission or a babysitter"

"Your barely a member. Where did you go?"

"Again that's none of your business"

Eric stood up and I could tell from his posture that he grew angrier.

"It is my business because something could have happened to you" Eric raised his voice "I'm not sure if you noticed but we have a bit of a fractionless problem on our hands.  You could have been attacked!"

"I could take care of myself!"

He didn't respond. Instead he just glared down at me.  I took a deep breath before standing up as well so I could be somewhat at his level.

"I went to Erudite to see my sister. Okay? Are you happy now?" I yelled angrily.

"It was a stupid move for you to go alone at night! You should have asked someone to go with you!" He barked.

"For your information I didn't go alone. You would know that if you supposedly know everything" I yelled back before storming off "You just ruined my appetite" I continued to yell over my shoulder.

Why does it matter to him that I left the compound? I didn't run into any problems and I had a gun to protect myself if it had come to that. I was perfectly safe. Eric should just stay out of my business from now on.

Urgh, why does this man frustrate me so much???

Not paying much attention to where I was going I bumped right into a tall figure.
