The next morning I woke up with a headache. We ended up drinking two bottles of wine, talking and making plans for our girls night out. I didn't even bother meeting up with Eric to train. After yesterday things were going to change and I needed him to know. I went to the dining hall and took my time eating breakfast. It was still early enough not for me to be late.
I went through my emails and saw a message from Jax. He had been trying to reach me all night. It brought a smile to my face. He was going to be away for a few days and wanted to get together after work for a drink. Definitely. I responded right away.
When I walked into the leaders lounge I noticed Eric's light was on in his office. I slowly walked over to my desk. I really didn't want to see him but I knew there was no way of avoiding him. When I walked to his doorway he was sitting with his back to me, reading a file.
I cleared my throat "Eric"
He sat there for a few seconds before responding.
"Where were you this morning? You didn't show up, that's not good" he said, finally turning around.
He had his usual blank expression on his face. It made me angry.
"Why would I show up? You almost killed me yesterday!"
"Stop being so dramatic" he laughs, dropping the file he was holding onto his desk.
"Stop being dramatic? Are you serious right now?"
He doesn't say anything. Instead he lights a cigarette and takes a long drag.
"That's it? You have nothing else to say? No I'm sorry? Nothing?"
"You shouldn't have provoked me" he blatantly says.
"Wow" I let out a laugh "Your unbelievable" I shout walking out the door.
"You better show up tomorrow" he shouts after me.
"Yeah okay, hold your breath till I come" I shouted back.
All I could hear now was Eric laughing. I knew I wouldn't get a apology. He was a jerk, plain and simple. Throughout the morning he kept giving me bullshit memos to type up. I did my work, ignoring him for the most part. I could feel his gaze on me from time to time. God only knows what's going through his mind.
Before breaking for lunch I skimmed through the mass quantity of emails I now receive from various departments heads of each faction. Eric insisted I deal them. Lazy ass. One in particular was in regards to a gala in Erudite. It required Eric's immediate response. That he can do himself since he was also attached to the email.
Another was also from Erudite but this one was marked urgent. It was from one of the lab techs, Robert, explaining the adjustments that were made to a gun they were making. It needed Eric to sign off on it ASAP. Again, Eric was attached to it so I'll let him deal with it.
"I'll be in Erudite the rest of the day" Eric barks before storming out.
I don't say a word. Instead I flip him the bird as he walks out. Michael starts laughing from his desk.
"Someone's in the doghouse" he laughs.
"Big time"
"Come on, let's go to lunch. I'm starved" Michael stood up from his desk and waited for me by the door.
I quickly finished responding to my last email regarding a patrol that was set up for Friday. Eric wanted the final list of Dauntless that were sighed up for it. I noticed that Hector, James, and Jesse were on it. Should I be worried?
