What was that?
Was Eric serious right now?
I didn't know where I was running to, all I did know was I needed to get away from him and away from that kiss he suddenly planted on me. I knew he had been drinking and was most likely drunk as a skunk but come on.
I ran near a willow tree and sat beneath it, trying to catch my breath. Not again. This wasn't supposed to happen again.
"Kate, it was just a kiss. It didn't mean anything. I doubt he even remembers" I said to myself.
Am I making a bigger deal about this than I should? I start laughing at myself. I'm being such a drama queen. I sat there until my body started to shiver from the cold. It didn't take me long to find our cabin. I stood starring at it, unable to move my feet.
"Stop being a coward Kate" I said to myself.
When I finally worked up the guts to open the front door the freaking guy was nowhere to be seen.
"Thank God" I said relieved.
Looking around I found no traces of him. He's probably drunk in a ditch somewhere. Good riddance. All I wanted to do right now was sleep. We are supposed to be heading back to Dauntless first thing in the morning and I wanted to get all the sleep I could get.
I wasn't sure what time it was when I heard foot steps squeaking the wooden floors. I slightly open my eyes and I see Eric leaning against the kitchen counter, trying to stand up. He starts rummaging through the cabinets, making a ruckus. Clearly he was looking for more booze. When he couldn't find any he slid down to the ground and drank the last drops of the bottle he just finished. He looked pissed when nothing really came out. It was entertaining to watch. Next thing I knew I heard him snoring. The big ape fell asleep sitting on the kitchen floor.
"Not my problem" I mumbled before going back to sleep.
I woke up in the morning with the sunlight beaming down on my face. I rolled over on my side and saw that Eric was no longer passed out. The door to the bathroom opened and Eric walked out wearing a towel wrapped around his waist. Must he always do that?
I quickly shut my eyes and pretended I was still asleep. With one eye slightly opened I watched him as he pulled his clothes out of his duffle bag and dropped his towel. Holy shit, he was standing there totally naked, full frontal. I wanted to close my eyes and not look but I couldn't help myself. He looked just as I remembered. Perfect.
"Like what you see, princess?"
I practically jumped out of bed when I heard him speak. How did he know I was starring at him? What do I even say? He called me out and I need to come back with something smart to say.
"I've seen better" I responded nonchalantly.
That was a lie. I got out of bed and went into the bathroom to get dressed.
"Yeah right" I heard him fire back.
By the time I got out of the bathroom Eric was already dressed and ready to go. Nothing more was said. He didn't even bring up kissing me last night.
The drive back to Dauntless had been a quiet one. I had spent the majority of the drive staring out the window, my brain running through all the things that had happened on this trip. The biggest thing being Eric kissing me. I had no idea where that came from. I mean yes, I had been feeling things for him that I haven't felt in a long time but I didn't think he had the same thoughts. By the time we made it back to Dauntless it was mid day. The metal gates of the garage banged shut as Xavier pulled the truck to a stop.
