Jesy's POV

It is now just past 11am, and the girls are sat quietly with some arts and crafts that I found in the cupboard. Both sets of our grandparents, were coming round just before 12. I had tried to talk to Olivia and Eloise earlier but had been distracted when Hanna phoned to discuss when she could visit and reminded me about emailing the girls school which I had just finished doing. Last night the girls and I had chatted until past midnight and they were coming round this afternoon to look after the girls so I could go to my parents house.

Me: "Girls, you know Nana and Papa and Grandma and Granddad," I said, as they looked up from their drawings. "They're going to come and visit, won't that be nice?" I said smiling, trying to make it seem like some kind of fun activity.

Olivia: "Why?" she asked pulling a face.

Me: "Well, there coming here to sort out things for your Mummy and Daddy like the house and the funeral and stuff and they want to come and see you, so I said they could,"

Olivia: "Oh, when?"

Me: "Soon, they're coming for lunch," I said knowing that Eloise wouldn't have much understanding of the time and neither girls could tell the time on an analog clock, so figured lunchtime is a general understanding of about midday. Olivia went back to her coloring, seemingly unfazed by the news, whereas Eloise who hadn't said anything came and sat on my lap sucking her thumb. "Whats the matter, Els" I asked quietly so her sister wouldn't hear. She turned into me burying her head in my neck.

Eloise: "I want you, not them," she said into my neck.

Me: "I'm going to be here too, you can stay with me if you want, they just want to see you," I said rubbing her back reassuringly. She didn't respond, just pointed to the television, and back to me. We would have to work on her speaking and not just using gestures as soon as we were a bit more settled. I turned on the television to Disney Junior where Doc McStuffins was playing, I knew Eloise had previously enjoyed watching it. Olivia joined us on the sofa after a few minutes, and I noticed she had began to bite the skin just below her thumb.

Me: "No biting, Olivia," I said gently, taking her hand away from her mouth, only for her to return a little while later when she thought I wasn't looking. The doorbell rang just as the show had finished. "Shall we go and open it, girlies," I said standing up from the couch with Eloise still hanging on to me like a monkey.

I walked to the door, gesturing for Olivia to come with us. I left her when she shook her head, choosing to stay back slightly hidden by the doorframe to the living room.

Me: "Hi, nice to see you again," I said opening the door wide welcoming the girls grandparents in. We had met a few times before, but I didn't really know them that well. Eloise refused to look up from my shoulder, clinging on to me tightly.

Rose (Nana): "Hi Jess, hello Eloise Isabelle," she said coming in stroking the back of Eloise's head, comfortingly causing her to whimper.

Me: "It's Nana, Ellie, and Papa and Grandma, Granddad," I said hearing her whimpers from the talking.

Julie (Grandma): "Hi Jess, how are you doing?" she said giving me a hug being careful not to squash her granddaughter.

Me: "I'm doing alright, we're going to be okay, I think," I said being as honest as I could.

Julie (Grandma): "Okay, where's miss Livy," she asked.

Me: "She was in the other room, shall we go and have a chat in the kitchen and I'll get her," I said leading them into the kitchen, where we sat at the kitchen table. "Who do you want to sit with so I can go and find your sister," I asked quietly to Eloise. She only whimpered and clung tighter to me fighting as I tried to turn her round so she was facing everybody else at the table.
