Jesy's POV
It is now Monday, a couple of days after our cemetery visit and both girls are back at school. Eloise seems to having a hard time today, she has already cried twice and its only 8am, once because she didn't want to get dressed and the second time because she didn't want to eat breakfast and I was the worst person in the world for making her eat something. I hoped that she would go off to school easily and come home in a much better mood but as soon as we pulled up outside the school I knew that wasn't going to happen.
Eloise: "I wanna stay with you today..." Eloise said quietly sucking her thumb.
Me: "Oh no, you don't want to do that. I'm having a super boring day and at school you've got a really fun day, remember it's Monday and on a Monday you do music don't you?!" I said trying to make her feel better.
Eloise: "I don't like music, I wanna be with you," she said defiantly.
Me: "You loved music last week! I'm sure you'll have loads of fun with your friends!" I said helping her out of the car. "Alright, come on then girlies," I said holding both of their hands as I led them to the playground. Olivia was in the upper school so her class was collected from the playground, where as Eloise in the lower school had to be taken directly to her classroom, giving me some time to talk to her teacher, Mrs Jensen and explain if she was having a bad day.
Because of Eloise's tears we were running a little bit late so Olivia's class was collected almost immediately and Ellie clung to me tightly crying softly as I made our way to her classroom.
Mrs Jensen "Hello Eloise!" Mrs Jensen greeted us happily.
Me: "She's having a bad day..." I whispered only allowing the teacher to hear.
Mrs Jensen "Oh!" Her teacher responded understandingly, "Come on sweetheart, we're going to have so much fun today! I got a new toy for the classroom, do you think you can help me open the box?" she said wanting to change the subject away from leaving me and her own tears.
Me: "Wow! That's so special, Ellie. Go with your teacher, I'll see you later," I said trying to pry her hands away from my arm.
Eloise: "NO!" she said beginning to cry properly, "I wanna be with you today..." she begged again her teary eyes looking at me.
Me: "You can't stay with me, you have to go to school! Look I think I can see Isla in the classroom!" I said again trying to distract her with her friends.
Eloise: "No please, don't make me. Let me stay with you..." she cried. I sighed I didn't know what else to do, she was only getting more and more upset and I didn't think me staying for any longer was going to help, it would only make her think that she would get to come home with me.
Me: "No, Eloise. I have to go now, I've got lots of things to do today and you've got lots of learning to do at school. So go with Mrs Jensen and I'll come back and pick you up this afternoon, I promise," I said, passing her hand to the teacher who took it and gently pulled her in to the classroom sobbing.
She hadn't done this for so long, at least not at school, and not with her new teacher at all so I felt awful dropping her off and having no explanation for her behaviour.
Her teacher reassured me that she was sure that she would settle quickly and I thought so too, I figured she was just having a bad day. I felt bad for the first part of the morning until I got a phone call from the school about half an hour after I dropped the girls off to tell me that Eloise had calmed down, so I didn't think about it for the rest of the morning and carried on with my planned shopping trip with Jade.
