Jesy's POV
Over the weekend we had made some progress with getting Eloise to sleep in her own bed; on Saturday night she had fallen asleep on the camp bed, she had cried when I told her that she wasn't going to sleep in my bed but I remained firm and didn't allow her to climb onto my bed placing her back down every time she tried. We had been out late and by the time we got home and ready for bed it was at least an hour later than their normal bedtime so she fell asleep quickly and without much trouble. I really over exaggerated the praise that I gave to her in the morning making it seem like an incredible thing and when she slept on her own on the camp bed on Sunday night as well, I felt like I had won the lottery. Both times she woke up earlier than normal but then I let her snuggle in my bed with me until it was slightly later. It was much better for all of us, I was sleeping better without Eloise's elbows digging into me and I think Eloise was as well. Olivia slept through everything, even when Ellie was having a meltdown in the same room as her she didn't even stir.
Thankfully Olivia's sleeping had gotten a lot better she wasn't having nightmares every night now and they were probably only coming once or twice a week maximum. When they did come they were bad and she didn't sleep properly for the rest of the night and wanted to stay with me. It had been just over three and a half months since the accident and I was glad that they were both forgetting it; neither had talked about it in at least a month and Olivia never seemed to remember what her nightmares had been about and just seemed scared. I was also worried that they were going to forget about our parents, they were only so little and by now I don't remember anything or very little from when I was under age seven and one of my worst fears is that they won't remember them, I know that if my parents could tell me one thing now it would be not to let their little girls forget them. I had put photographs around the house and constantly talked about them but I knew that it was only time before they wouldn't remember their smiles or laughs or what they always used to say or do when they put them to bed.
I was now on my way to pick them up from school, their teachers had told me how much they had improved since they had been back, Olivia had moved up reading and mathematics levels and Eloise was much more confident in class now. We had gotten ourselves in a normal routine now and I felt like I had been doing this forever not just under four months.
Me: "Ellie!" I called watching her come out of the classroom door. Normally she came out smiling happily and ran towards me rambling on about her day but today she shuffled quietly watching as the other children ran towards their parents jumping into their arms. "Hey, are you alright?!" I asked concerned when she reached me.
Eloise: "What?" she asked switching her attention from the other children and their parents to me.
Me: "What's the matter? Do you feel alright?" I said placing a hand on her forehead checking her temperature.
Eloise: "Can we go home?" she asked quietly holding my hand.
Me: "Yeah, lets just go and get your sister," I replied, worried that their was a problem, she either wasn't feeling well or had a bad day. But her teacher normally told me if their had been a little problem or tears during the day and she hadn't so I guessed that she either wasn't feeling great or was just tired. I decided that I would ask her when we got home.
Olivia's class were already filing out of the building when Eloise and I got there, she was still clinging tightly to my hand and I reassuringly gave it a squeeze and kissed her head calling Olivia over.
Me: "How was your day, Olivia?" I asked, letting go of Eloise's hand to take Olivia's lunchbox.
Eloise: "No, no, Jess," she moaned reaching up for my hand.
