Jesy's POV
It had been a long week and it was only Wednesday. Eloise had been going to school all day this week, she cried every morning, begging me not to make her go, it was draining and I was exhausted from the tears before 10am. Thankfully both girls were beginning to enjoy their time spent at the studio, they had made friends with Kate's children and would play happily together for the evenings.
I had just arrived to pick the girls up from school, parked alongside the road and was waiting outside Eloise's classroom for them to be let out. I always picked her up first, it always took Olivia's class longer to get out once the bell had rung, it always sounded like they were having too much fun finishing the day with a story or a game on the whiteboard.
Mrs.Fyke: "Hello," she said smiling as I approached the door when the kids began to pile out.
Me: "Good day today?" I asked nervously, hoping the answer was positive.
Mrs.Fyke: "Best one yet," she said pleased as Eloise threw her arms around me as she did every time I picked her up. "She answered her name in register this afternoon,"
Me: "Hello missy, did you have a good day?" I asked.
Eloise smiled and tugged me down to her height. She never wanted to speak properly to me at school and her teacher told me that she rarely spoke in class, so answering her name in the register was a big deal.
Eloise: "I got a gold star," she whispered in me. I could hear the pride in her voice.
Me: "You did!?" I said pulling her away from me. I could see the little gold star sticker stuck on her school dress like a prized possession. "Oh- there it is! Good girl! I'm so proud of you," I praised, before going across the playground to Olivia's classroom door.
Approaching the door I noticed Olivia bouncing from foot to foot stood one side of her teacher. She looked nervous, biting her nails as she say Eloise and I nearing. Oh dear, I thought to myself, I knew two girls having a good day was too good to be true.
Me: "Hello, is everything okay?" I asked her teacher. Mrs.Duran was young and friendly, Olivia loved her and in the past few weeks I had developed a good relationship with her, she knew about our little problems at home and was always there with advice or offer her help at school.
Mrs.Duran: "There was a bit of an incident at lunchtime, can I have a word?" she asked quietly.
I looked down at Olivia who refused to make eye contact but looked like she wanted to burst into tears at any moment. I followed her teacher into the classroom and sat opposite her desk with Olivia to my left.
Me: "Go and sit at the back with a reading book," I told Eloise not wanting her to hear what Olivia's teacher was about to tell me.
Me: "Hey, what's going on?" I asked Olivia kindly but firmly. "Olivia. I have to talk to your teacher about this but I would like to hear it from you first," She still refused to make eye contact so I knew she was in trouble but I couldn't ignore the heartbreaking single tear that rolled silently down her cheek. I stroked her hair and kissed her forehead comfortingly before turning to talk to her teacher.
Me: "What happened?" I asked.
Mrs.Duran: "Umm- there was a fight in the playground at lunchtime and Olivia punched another little boy, Jacob." That was all I needed to turn to Olivia.
Me: "That's not like you, Olivia." I said disappointedly.
Mrs.Duran: "Mmm- we dealt with it though, nobody got seriously hurt. It was just outside my window so I was there before anybody else, so Olivia came and sat in here with me for the rest of lunchtime and we had a little chat,"
