Jesy's POV
I have seen Josh a few times since our first date, we've been on multiple dates and I spent the night at his flat last week. The girls have gotten much better about me leaving them and the night I spent at his I left at 5am, so I was there when the girls woke up.
I had researched into introducing boyfriends to children, and it had suggested waiting a little while, which I was obviously going to do not only would it have scared Josh bringing two little girls with me on a first date but it also would have probably scared the girls too. They didn't like new people and it had been the three of us for a long time, I didn't think they would take too kindly to somebody else joining us.
We had been together for almost two months and my excuses were wearing thin, the last one was a trip to the late night store because I didn't have the right things for dinner the next day. They questioned me incessantly about why I was wearing a pretty dress to go to the store but thankfully they hadn't figured it out just yet, but I knew I didn't have a lot of time. I talked to Josh about them and he was eager to meet them so today we had agreed to meet at the park.
Me: "Girls, we're going to the park today," I said over breakfast on Saturday morning.
Olivia: "Yes! We've not been for so long!" she cheered.
Me: "I know, but this is a very special trip to the park because one of my friends is coming to join us!"
Eloise: "Why?"
Me: "Because he wanted to meet you," I explained as honestly as I could, I wasn't going to introduce him as my boyfriend straight away.
Olivia: "Why?" she asked pulling a face. Why did these girls ask so many questions!
Me: "Because I've talked about you and he wanted to meet you in real life!" I said. "Come on, let's go and get dressed," I decided not wanting to answer anymore questions. Both girls follow me up the stairs and dejectedly dress in the outfits I had previously chosen for them.
Olivia: "Is your friend nice?" she asked downstairs while we were waiting to leave. She was confident outwardly and not too shy but inwardly she was still pretty insecure and scared of new people, she hid it well most of the time but now I could see her little anxieties coming out.
Me: "Yeah, of course he is! I wouldn't let you see him if he wasn't nice!"
Olivia: "Do you promise?" she says climbing on to my lap.
Me: "Yeah, pinky promise," I said linking my little finger with hers.
She quickly moved on and returned to playing with Eloise, who was blissfully unfazed, on the floor.
I was scared of their reaction to Josh, this was one thing since I had the girls that was for me and I didn't want them to hate him and the situation. As much as I loved the girls more than I ever thought possible, Josh was for me and I needed something for me, as everything else was primarily focused on them. I needed this to work out. I had talked to him about the girls and he understood that they had been through a lot and weren't the same as every other six and eight year old but I was worried that he would meet them realise that I wasn't kidding about their little issues and run a mile away from us, although he had reassured me for weeks that he wouldn't do that.
Me: "Come on girlies," I decided at about 10 O'Clock, we were meeting Josh at half past and I thought if we got there first the girls could play before he arrived. "Let's go," I took the girls shoes out of the cupboard before she helping them with the straps and heading out of the door.
